Miley Cyrus wishes Merry Christmas with 'dysfunctional family' pic amid divorce settlement with Liam Hemsworth
After an on-off relationship for over the course of nine years, Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus took everyone by surprise when they called it quits in August 2019. The two had married on December 23, 2018.
Yet, Miley remains cheery as ever, and shared a photo on her Instagram account, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. "Merry Christmas from America's most dysfunctional family," she wrote in the caption of the family photo.
The divorce proceedings have begun, and according to a TMZ report, Miley and Liam have worked out the details of their divorce. Sources directly linked to Miley and Liam, have told TMZ that her lawyer will file legal documents, declaring that the former couple have reached a settlement in their divorce. There weren't too many complications, as Cyrus will reportedly keep custody of the animals, and there wasn't a problem with property as there was a prenup in place.
There had been much bitterness on both sides, but it seems as if the two have decided to bury the hatchet and move on, rather than fight. It had been Liam who had filed for divorce back in August, citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce will probably come through after six months, so they should both be single in March.
In August, Cyrus's rep confirmed to PEOPLE in a statement that the couple had split. "Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” the statement read. “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy."
Cyrus has moved ahead with Australian singer Cody Simpson, and the two are still going strong, despite rumors of a split. Liam Hemsworth isn't wasting many tears either, as there are rumors about him and model Gabriella Brooks. Just earlier this month, he was photographed introducing Brooks to his parents Craig and Leonie Hemsworth in Australia.
