Liam Hemsworth took to Instagram on Tuesday, August 13, to finally announce his split from wife Miley Cyrus.

Hemsworth's announcement came a day after he told the paparazzi, "You don't understand what it's like" and  "I don't want to talk about it mate," as he was photographed while grabbing some frozen yogurt with his brother Chris Hemsworth and his niece and nephews.

Rumors of their split began doing the rounds after Cyrus was pictured in Lake Como, Italy, on Friday, August 9, kissing Brody Jenner's ex-wife Kaitlynn Carter.

In an Instagram post of a sunset, the 29-year-old "Hunger Games" opened about up about the reports of his separation from the "Wrecking Ball" singer.

"Hi all, Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward... Peace and Love," Hemsworth wrote in the caption.

When compared to Cyrus' statement about their separation, Hemsworth's announcement looked quite crisp and formal.

Cyrus took to Instagram on Sunday, August 11, posting a photo of herself in hiking gear against a scenic backdrop of mountains and valleys. Although she did not directly address the split, her extended caption seemed more hopeful and upbeat.

"Don't fight evolution, because you will never win," she captioned the picture.

"Like the mountain, I am standing on top of, which was once underwater, connected with Africa, change is inevitable. The Dolomites were not created overnight, it was over millions of years that this magnificent beauty was formed. My dad always told me, 'Nature never hurries but it is always on time'... it fills my heart with peace, and hope KNOWING that is true. I was taught to respect the planet and its process and I am committed to doing the same with my own."

Cyrus was the one who confirmed the end of their seven-month-long marriage to People Magazine via her publicist.

"Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time. Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what's best while they both focus on themselves and careers," the statement read.

"They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy."
