Len Goodman death: ‘Dancing With The Stars’ judge's son takes after his legendary dad
LONDON, UK: The death of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge Len Goodman has left his fans heartbroken. Len died on April 22 at the age of 78 after suffering from bone cancer. He was reportedly at a hospice in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, with his family when he died.
His manager, Jackie Gill, issued a statement on Monday, April 24, which said, as per BBC, “It is with great sadness to announce that Len Goodman has passed away peacefully, aged 78. A much-loved husband, father, and grandfather who will be sorely missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.”

Who is Len Goodman's son?
The English professional ballroom dancer was the father of a son named James William Goodman, who was born in 1981. Just like his father, James is also said to be a trained Latin and ballroom dancer. He has even judged a charity dance event organized by Step by Step Dance School, supporting Cynthia Spencer Hospice in Northampton, The Sun reported.
The 42-year-old is reportedly a married man. He and his wife Sophie share two children – a daughter named Alice and a son named Dan. Not much information is available about the father-son relationship but it has been said that James, referring to his legendary father, once said, “I am much more generous with my marks than Len.”
‘Can't believe he's gone’
Meanwhile, after Len’s death, Tim Davie, BBC Director-General, said in a statement, “Len Goodman was a wonderful, warm entertainer who was adored by millions. He appealed to all ages and felt like a member of everyone’s family. Len was at the very heart of Strictly’s success. He will be hugely missed by the public and his many friends and family.”
Kate Phillips, BBC Director of 'Unscripted', shared, “This is such terribly sad news. Len was a much loved member of the Strictly family and from the very beginning, he was integral to its success. He always brought so much invaluable expertise and entertainment to the show. And on a personal note, Len was very kind to me and everyone who worked with him, always making time for a chat. I can't quite believe he's gone and we'll never have a Ten from Len again.”
A fan tweeted, "Very sad to hear about the death of dear wonderful gentleman, Len Goodman. My heart goes out to his family & dear Sue. He gave me such support on my time at Strictly. I feel so lucky to have worked with such a professional, funny loveable man. Thank you for the special memories x.” Another user wrote, “The wonderful Len Goodman has left us. He was so kind and lovely to me when I was on @bbcstrictly and we met on other programmes including his own filmed at BBC Glasgow. The word legend is overused but Len and his 'SEVEN' became a catchphrase across UK & USA. A true character 7⃣.”

A third added, “Len Goodman had the gift of combining kindness with honesty. When I was in the final of #Strictly he said 'We've got two thoroughbreds and a Shetland pony.' RIPLen.”
