'Legacies' season 2: How Freya's appearance in episode 6 could change things for Hope and the Saltzman twins
'Legacies' will return for its second season this week and we cannot wait to see what Hope and the rest of the Salvatore School will be up to when it is back. Last week, we found out that Riley Voelkel will be returning as Freya Mikaelson in the sixth episode of the new season. So far, we don't have a synopsis for the episode but fans are excited about a member of 'The Originals' showing up for the "spin-off of a spin-off".
Of course, the person who brings Freya back would be her niece, Hope. Last we saw Hope, she had jumped into the Malivore pit knowing that her witch-werewolf-vampire genes meant that she could stop Malivore from returning and this meant that everyone would forget her. And from the trailer for season 2, we see that is true -- people have forgotten, but they know something is missing. It would look like it is Landon and Alaric who feel her absence the most.
We've been given the synopsis for three episodes, and in all three, it looks like people still don't remember who Hope is, even though she may be back in Mystic Falls. So it is most likely that by the time Freya shows up, it stays that way. And that's one reason that Freya might be back. Hope has always gotten along well with her aunt and leaned on her through the most difficult moments of her life -- losing her mother and father. Hope also knows that Freya is a powerful witch and so, she might seek help from Freya in figuring out a way to bring back everyone's memories of her. Of course, the question here is, would Freya remember her and if she doesn't, will she help her?
There is another reason that Freya shows up and that could be to help the Saltzman twins. In season 1, when Josie first learns of the Merge, Hope had told her that her aunt could help. We are certain that the Merge forms a major part of the storyline for the sisters this year, with Josie especially trying to figure out more about it. We also think that Lizzie would be doing her part as well. This might come to a point where the sisters need a spell or they need to know something more about the Ascendant -- the key to the prison world that Kai Parker (the twins' uncle) is in.
But we think the probability is that both could happen, with Freya being brought to help the twins on Hope's suggestion, but there could be a recurring theme where Freya thinks she definitely knows Hope. So Freya's appearance could be key to two things -- one, where people start to remember Hope, and two, set the ball in motion for Kai's return in order to deal with the Merge. We don't know if she will bring her wife, Keelin along, but the latter might just be staying back in New Orleans to look after their baby. It will be a bonus if Vincent returns as well.
'Legacies' will air on October 10th, Thursday on The CW.
