Prince Harry branded 'p***y-whipped' by unofficial Leave EU campaign after Megxit, royal fans outraged

The unofficial Leave campaign has labeled Prince Harry as "p***y-whipped" in a controversial tweet that has sparked a major backlash online.

In a mock-up picture posted by Leave.EU's Twitter account, the Duke of Sussex appears to be on his hands and knees while his wife Meghan Markle holds a whip around his neck while placing one high-heel on his back, Metro reports. "RT if you’re terribly sad to see the demise of Meghan Markle’s husband, Harry. P***y-whipped?" the caption reads.

The tweet comes after the royal couple's decision to step back from their royal duties and has been labeled as sexist and in "very bad taste." Leave.EU has courted controversy in the past as well, having been fined for breaking electoral spending rules and sparking outrage with a barrage of similar tweets. On social media, Leave.EU was a rival to the official Vote Leave campaign during the Brexit referendum.

The controversial page has previously labeled German Chancellor Angela Merkel a ‘Kraut’ in what was deemed to be a racist poster. "We didn’t win two World Wars to be pushed around by a Kraut," the caption read.

While the organization later apologized for the characterization, this latest tweet has sparked a similar outrage and was branded "tasteless."

"Even by Leave EU’s standards this is pretty poor stuff. Ignorance and prejudice dressed up as ‘harmless banter’ to freak out the liberals. I guess this kind of stuff appeals to their demographic," one wrote.

"What an awful picture to display, bad taste and hurtful. I’m ashamed to have campaigned on your behalf in 2016," another added. "You have really scraped the bottom of the barrel here. Even by your low and pretty disgusting standards this is tasteless!!" a third comment read.

Nonetheless, there were some who praised the tweet while others suggested it was a joke. Some also argued it had nothing to do with the Brexit referendum. The poster comes after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to split their time between Britain and North America and "step back" from their royal duties. According to the report, the Queen had no inkling of the plan before the Sussexes made the shock announcement earlier this week.
