The world is in a unique and strange state whether its the coronavirus pandemic or the widespread protests that erupted in the wake of George Floyd's death. Specifically in the United States, the death of the 46-year-old African-American man at the hands of the police led to nationwide outrage. Floyd's death, the latest example of extreme police brutality, has also led to the Black Lives Matter movement taking over the globe.

Amid these uncertain and stressful times, the world is looking at social media influencers to be using their platforms to take a stance or to spread awareness. However, one particular influencer, Jenny69 or Jenny Ruiz, who has her own YouTube handle, is being slammed on social media. The Latina beauty influencer had recently taken to YouTube to say that she needs a break from social media in light of Floyd's death and the subsequent protests and demand for justice.

Bashing Jenny69's stance on the situation, Twitter users have called her out, demanding she gets "canceled." One such user shared, "Jenny69 HAS NEVER AND WILL NEVER BE A RESPRESENTATION OF OUR LATINO COMMUNITY. The privilege to come out with that video and say that the BLM movement was a reason for a “break” screams PRIVILEGE. It’s embarrassing."

Protesters gather in Harlem to protest the recent death of George Floyd on May 30, 2020 in New York City. Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin was filmed kneeling on Floyd's neck. Floyd was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Across the country, protests against Floyd's death have set off days and nights of rage as its the most recent in a series of deaths of African Americans by the police (Getty Images)

"Jenny69 posted a video on why she hasn’t been on social media LMAO the audacity this girl has to literally say 'this is my platform and i’ll talk about things when i want to and if you don’t like it, create your own platform so you can speak on it,'" a Twitter user said, while another wrote, "Honestly it’s time for us to start canceling people like jenny69 @louiecasttro @daisymarquez_ and there whole gang they do nothing but eat hot Cheetos and use our culture for they’re own benefit to gain money and fame and I’m just honestly over it."

A third user commented, "Jenny69 should’ve been canceled a long time ago," and another wrote, "Finally canceling jenny69 I’ve been waiting for this she’s been embarrassing the entire Latino community and thinks eating hot Cheetos and yelling in Spanish is a personality trait." Jenny69 had recently taken to her Instagram handle to share a picture of herself and her son out shopping while sporting face masks. However, she did not get the positive response she was looking for with many pointing out that as an influencer she should use her platform to try and make a difference, especially when so many Latinos look up to her.

She has not yet responded to the backlash she has been receiving across social media.
