Paul Walker's character Brian O'Conner will return to Fast and Furious 9, six years after actor's death
Paul Walker's character Brian O'Conner will return to the 'Fast and Furious' franchise around 6 years after his death.
Walker had died in a tragic car accident in 2013 when he was around 40. His brothers Cody and Caleb Walker had filmed his final scenes in Furious 7 as producers used CGI to bid him farewell. It has now been reported that Walker's character Brian will return to the upcoming 'Fast and Furious9' film.
As reported by Ladbible, sources who are close to the casting department shared that they were on the lookout for a Paul Walker double. A Twitter user, Daniel Richtman shared, "Just got a new casting grid for something and with it some big news that is sure to be controversial. Not sure how I feel about it myself but we'll see".
He then later shared that "they are bringing back Paul Walker's character, Brian, to FF9". However, fans and followers of the 'Fast and Furious' franchise are not pleased about the unconfirmed news. One fan wrote on social media, "I’m not a fan of the FF movies but still this is a big no from me".
Another fan added, "No, Paul’s character Brian had a beautiful sendoff that doesn’t need to be used to gain more money from. It gave us a sense of closure and finality to his and Jordana’s respective characters". Many other apprehensive users shared that the scene at the end of Fast and Furious 7 was beautiful and anything further will taint it.
Cody Walker had earlier opened up about returning as Paul after filming Fast 7. While speaking to Metro, Cody had shared, "You know there’s a lot of things that are said about the franchise, there’s a lot of rumors going around. I think anything is possible and we’ll see what the future has in store. There are a lot of things that are said out there".
