Although Larry David is not someone who is known to take out the time of his day to knock some sense into the youth of the country, he did just that in a coronavirus awareness video he shot for the government of California.

In order to chastize millennials who are taking the threat of COVID-19 lightly, the office of the Governor of California posted the one and a half minute-long video on their Twitter page. "Larry David wants everyone to stay home to protect older Californians from #COVID19! He does not do these things. Listen to Larry," the tweet was captioned.

In the video, Larry, casually dressed and relaxing in an armchair, humorously chastized the younger generation by ordering them to stay at home and be a couch potato.

"Obviously, somebody put me up to this 'cause it's generally not the kind of thing I do, but I basically want to address the idiots out there -- and you know who you are," he said in the video. "You're going out -- I don't know what you're doing. You're socializing too close, it's not good. You're hurting old people like me -- well, not me. I have nothing to do with you. I'll never see you. But, you know, other -- let's say, other old people who might be your relatives! Who the hell knows."

The 'Seinfeld' creator continued, saying that he had no clue how youngsters were "passing up" on a "fantastic" and "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity" to stay home, "sit on the couch, and watch TV."

"I don't know how you're passing that up!" David exclaimed. "Well... maybe...'cause you're not that bright. But here it is: go home! Watch TV! That's my advice to you."

Referring to his show 'Curb Your Enthusiasm,' he emphasized to the viewers that "nothing good ever happens going out of the house," adding "it's just trouble out there" and that it's "not a good place to be."

"So stay home and, you know, don't see anyone except maybe if there's a plumbing emergency, let the plumber in and then, you know, wipe everything down after he leaves... but that's it. OK," Larry concluded.

While it's questionable if Larry's advice reached the audience demographic he was aiming for, the comedian's fans flooded the comments section with satires and witty remarks of their own.

"Please don't kill Larry David. Stay home," one user commented, while another, said, "Larry needs to start giving people the stare down to determine if they really needed to leave the house."

A third said: "Probably the closest thing to Larry actually getting on twitter and I’ll take it."

And a fourth quipped: "Wait...I thought that was Bernie Sanders?"

However, one ought to take the message delivered by Larry more seriously than ever. According to a CDC update released on March 31, "Based on currently available information and clinical expertise, older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19."
