Lady Gaga faces criticism for collaborating with Pfizer to promote migraine drug Nurtec: 'This is so disheartening'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Lady Gaga fans are not impressed by the singer's decision to endorse Pfizer's migraine drug. Many social media users criticized her move and referred to it as a ‘cringy’ advertisement. It all began when the ‘Poker Face’ singer on Tuesday, June 13 shared a paid partnership post where she is seen performing onstage with Nurtec’s logo in the upper right-hand corner. She captioned, “Ever since childhood, I’ve dealt with migraine pain. When I tried Nurtec® ODT (rimegepant) 75 mg for the first time, I’ll never forget wishing I had found it sooner. That’s why I’m proud to partner with Nurtec ODT. We’re in this together.”
The pop singer was also featured in a television commercial for the brand, which described Gaga as an ‘actual patient.’ “I know what it’s like to perform through pain. If you’re like me, one of the millions suffering from pain caused by migraine, Nurtec ODT might help. It’s the only medication that can treat a migraine when it strikes and prevent migraine attacks,” she wrote in the caption.
'Girl what the hell happened'
Instagram users quickly commented on her post, “Wtf is wrong with this account? Where is Gaga? Who’s doing this? How come our Mother Monster would do a sponsor for… [medicine]? This is insane,” wrote one. The second user commented, “Girl what the hell happened to you that you’re like this and care about money this way and nothing else anymore? Not the person who used to say ‘I f—ing hate money’ in 2009.”

One user criticized Gaga over her quietness with LGBTQ month in progress, “Love you but this is so Poorly timed, the LGBTQ community is actively under attack and you’re securing a brand deal with painkillers?” “It’s pride month and you’ve posted two different ads but don’t have time to say anything about the terrifying campaign against trans rights?” expressed another user. "This is so heartbreaking and disheartening. not a single post about pride and the attacks our trans brothers and sisters are suffering," commented another user. The users further expressed their disappointment, “This is what u warned us about Gaga, it's the fame monster,” reports PageSix.
'May actually be in pain'
But a few users supported Gaga as one user said, “Little monsters when they realize that Gaga, who wrote a whole album about being in pain, who has been telling us for over a decade about her chronic pain illness, and who has had to cancel entire tours due to her relentless pain, may actually be in pain." The ‘Shallow’ singer has addressed her health issues and talked about her struggle with chronic illnesses, diagnosis with fibromyalgia.
