Kylie Minogue sizzles in one-piece bikini, snakeskin jumpsuit in $10m Australian tourism ad
Tourism Australia has launched a new $10 million (AUS$15 million) ad campaign and Kylie Minogue is the face of it.
The 51-year-old singer-songwriter put on a number of eye-catching outfits for the tourism promo video, which was uploaded by Australia's official YouTube page, including a one-piece red bikini and a stylish snakeskin ensemble.
The promo was shot in a number of destinations including Taronga Zoo, Byron Bay, the Sydney suburb of Cronulla and Western Australia's Rottnest Island and was aimed at enticing the British people to visit the Down Under.
The three-minute commercial, which premiered ahead of the queen's televised Christmas Day address in Britain, begins with Kylie dressed primly and sitting ladylike in Sandringham, which viewers took to mean Norfolk in England. However, soon the set up behind the singer disappeared to remind the audience that there was a beach of the same name in Australia, where Kylie was actually resting her legs.
Kylie said she really enjoyed shooting the commercial. "Filming across Australia was literally a dream come true. I've had the opportunity to see parts of the country I haven't seen before, as well as to go home and revisit places that I know are beautiful. This was my first time visiting Uluru, and it's as overwhelming, epic and inspiring as I imagined and dreamt it would be," she said, Daily Mail reported.
"From the moment you fly in and get a first glimpse of the rock, it is magnificent. I had a very powerful and beautiful moment on the first day of filming, staring up at the rock with two of the local Indigenous Elders, Reggie and Cassidy. I simply cannot wait to go back there," she added.
The commercial has an accompanying song 'Matesong' by the pop diva, in which Kylie encouraged Brits to forget their woes surrounding Brexit and hop down to Australia for a much-needed vacation.
"This year's been tough and confusing, but progress is moving," Kylie said in the video, before comedian Adam Hills chimed in with "Well, at a glacial pace". "But all of Australia loves you, and we'll never judge you," she added.
The song also included lyrics like, "Negotiating tricky trade deals is a shocker" which left little doubt on people's minds as to what she was talking about.
