Kylie Jenner became the latest target of the internet after she posted a statement addressing the tragic deaths of eight people at Travis Scott's Astroworld fest. On November 5, 2021, a stampede ensued among the frenzied crowd at the Astroworld Fest in Houston, Texas, when the rapper was performing on stage. The stampede left children as young as 10 critically injured while 8 people between 14 to 27 years of age lost their lives. Travis Scott later took to Instagram to share his devastation about the horrific incident. His girlfriend Kylie Jenner posted a similar statement soon afterward where she offered thoughts and prayers to the families of the deceased. But, the billionaire makeup mogul is being brutally slammed for her defensive stance towards Travis.

Kylie also received immense backlash from netizens as she shared glimpses from the Astroworld fest in her Instagram Stories while the stampede was ongoing. In fact, eyewitness reports have surfaced that Travis ignored desperate pleas for stopping the concert even after he saw people unconscious near him. In her latest Instagram story, Kylie wrote, "Travis and I are broken and devastated. My thoughts and prayers are with all who lost their lives, were injured or affected in anyway by yesterday's events. And also for Travis who I know cares deeply for his fans and the Houston community. I want to make it clear we weren't aware of any fatalities until the news came out after the show and in no world would have continued filming or performing. I am sending my deepest condolences to all the families during this difficult time and will be praying for the healing of everyone who has been impacted."

Kylie's statement did little to pacify angry fans who slammed the couple for being insensitive. Trolls even went to the extremity of giving death threats to the family, including her and Travis Scott's 3-year-old daughter Stormi

Some even speculated that the 24-year-old was "lying" when she said that she was unaware of the stampede until after the concert ended. They pointed out that one of the photos posted earlier by Kylie clearly showed an ambulance among the crowd.

"Not Kylie Jenner lying saying they didn't know what was happening when she posted a picture of the crowd and the ambulance was there fetching injured people. And whereas there's a video of Travis Scott telling his team to do what they came here to do and ignore all else," a fan tweeted.

"This is actually so scary when you think about it like people are actually dead… like lost their actual lives and @KylieJenner
puts out an obligatory statement to save face? Why is she defending Travis instead of just expressing her devastation. This is so scary," another fan wrote.

A third fan called for cancelling the Kardashians, saying, "The way to cancel and hurt Kylie Jenner and the kardashian family is by not watching or buying anything from them this is the real deal ! Repost so more people can seee this #cancelthekardashians."

"Maybe if your camera man had LISTENED to multiple people say that there was BODIES ON THE GROUND then you would've known. or maybe just listen to the screams of thousands of people who were fighting for their lives. @KylieJenner there is no excuse for what yall let happen," another tweeted, blaming Travis and Kylie for the tragedy.
