During an appearance on 'The Howard Stern Show', Kristen Stewart opened up about her past relationship with Robert Pattinson, assuring fans that despite popular rumors at the time, their coupling was not a publicity stunt.

The 'Twilight' actress, 29, got romantically involved with her co-star during the shoot of the vampire movies, even as the franchise divided fans into Team Edward and Team Jacob, characters made famous by the films.

“We were together for years, that was my first [love],” she told Stern.

She added that although she did not regret her relationship with her former flame, she did feel disappointed over the fact that the pair avoided displaying their affection for each other in public over fears of getting photographed by the paparazzi.

“… You deprive yourself of so many experiences,” Stewart said. “We didn’t walk down the street holding hands because we were like, ‘We don’t wanna give it to ’em.’ But then, we didn’t get to walk down the street holding hands, and it sucked.”

Kristen, who stars in the popular spy franchise movie 'Charlie’s Angels,' releasing November 15, said there wasn't anything she could have done to stop herself from falling for Robert, 33, when they were filming the 'Twilight' movies. She even admitted that there was a time when she would have said 'yes' if Pattinson were to propose her.

“I wanted to … yeah,” she said, later adding, “I don’t know, I’m not a super-duper traditionalist, but at the same time … every relationship I’ve ever been in, I thought that was it. I’ve never really been the most casual person.”

The actress had earlier mentioned in the October cover story for Harper’s Bazaar UK, that she “did not have an example to go by" when she started dating Pattinson. “So much was taken from us that, in trying to control one aspect, we were just like, ‘No, we will never talk about it. Never. Because it’s ours,'” she said.

Stewart is currently dating screenwriter Dylan Meyer after she split with model Stella Maxwell.
