Kris Jenner says the 'biggest regret' of her life is cheating on ex-husband Robert Kardashian
Kris Jenner is opening up about some of her biggest regrets in life as she sat down for an interview with Fox News Channel’s OBJECTified. The momager confessed that one thing that she regrets the most was about cheating on Robert. Kris and Robert were married from 1978–1991 but their 13 years long marriage came to an end after Kris cheated on him. Robert Kardashian Sr., who was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in July 2003 and died less than eight weeks later. In a sneak peek of the interview, set to air Sunday (July 15) Kris confessed that it was infidelity that tore their relationship apart.
“I married Robert when I was 22 years old and I got pregnant on my honeymoon — I had the happiest life you could’ve dreamt about,” she told host Harvey Levin. “But when you’re in something, sometimes people think the grass is always greener and that was like what I think I went through at some point.” When asked about her "affair with a soccer player", Kris did not hesitate to admit that she had made a mistake in the past.
“I did, I did,” she said. “Which wasn’t — nothing I’m proud of. When I look back on it now, probably one of my biggest regrets in my life is that that marriage fell apart.” Robert and Kris welcomed four children: Kourtney, 39, Kim, 37, Khloé, 34, and Rob, 3.
Kris revealed that she was devasted when Robert handed her the divorce papers because "it made it real". She continued, "Like, you think you’re going to come through this period — that was really hard for me.” Along with the divorce, Kris also faced a financial problem as Robert cut off her credit cards. "I didn’t have anything,” she recalls. “I went to the market one day and my credit card didn’t work. I had a market credit card and I’m like, ‘I can’t even buy a tomato.’ “
This is not the first time that Kris has opened up about regretting cheating on her husband. Kris confessed in her 2011 memoir, 'Kris Jenner…And All Things Kardashian' that she had an affair with a professional soccer player a decade her junior, which prompted the divorce. At the same time, in 2016, in an interview with Harper Bazaar, Kris echoed similar thoughts about her divorce with Robert.
“I had a wonderful, beautiful life with Robert. He was just an amazing man," she said. Khloe has also spoken about the marriage between her dad and mom. The reality star confessed she would never cheat in a relationship because she has seen how it breaks relationships and people. “I saw how it destroyed my dad,” she said on a Kocktails with Khloé episode in 2016. “I saw what it did to my dad so I don’t want to do that. I also saw the regret of my mom.”
