"They've definitely been slowing down," one insider told People, "Things heated up quickly in the beginning when he could travel back and forth to see Kim and spend time with her, but his schedule has gotten so packed." The insider added, "Pete is still super bummed, though, about the breakup. They really hit it off and had a ton of fun together, but it feels like it ran its course." The breakup was confirmed on Friday, August 5, with sources citing both Kim's and Pete's busy schedules. One insider told E! The couple was together for nine months after they met on the sets of 'Saturday Night Live' around the time the show was hosted by Kim. The SKIMS founder was candid about how she connected with her new flame, revealing that she texted him first.

"So, this is how it went down with Pete," she said on 'The Kardashians', "I did SNL, and then when we kissed in scene, it was just a vibe. And I was like, 'Oh, s**t. Maybe I just need to try something different!'" And they were like, 'Yeah'. I text him. I wasn't even thinking like, 'Oh my God, I'm gonna be in a relationship with him.' I was just thinking, 'Heard about this BDE [big d--- energy], need to get out there, I need to jumpstart my...'" Kim then clarified to the cameras, "I was just basically DTF [down to f**k]."

While they were dating, Pete got a series of tattoos dedicated to Kim, including one that said, "My girl is a lawyer," and another with the initials of her and her four children with ex Kanye West, namely North, 8; Saint, 6; Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 3. An insider told Page Six that Kim will always care for Pete and “have his back.” Another source said that although both parties were “bummed” their romance didn’t last long, they were not surprised. According to a second source, “Pete knew it wasn’t going to work,” adding that “He’d been saying it for a while — and Kim knew it, too.” A third insider claimed the age gap between them played spoilsport in the relationship. The source said they were “just in very different places at the moment.”
