Socialite and reality star Kim Kardashian West is apparently feeling “humble” as she held her 40th birthday party on a private island. The 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' star acknowledged her privilege as she treated the coterie of her friends and family. 
 
Kim Kardashian West turned 40 on October 21 and shared some images of the party she threw at a tropical Island that irked people on social media who slammed her for flaunting her wealth and status. Kim posted some images of the celebration on Twitter and wrote, “40 and feeling so humbled and blessed. There is not a single day that I take for granted, especially during these times when we are all reminded of the things that truly matter.”

In subsequent tweets, she said, “For my birthday this year, I couldn’t think of a better way to spend it than with some of the people who have helped shaped me into the woman I am today.” She continued, “Before Covid-19, I don’t think any of us truly appreciated what a simple luxury it was to be able to travel and be together with family and friends in a safe environment.”

She added, “After 2 weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, I surprised my closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time.” In her last tweet, she wrote, “We danced, rode bikes, swam near whales, kayaked, watched a movie on the beach and so much more. I realize that for most people, this is something that is so far out of reach right now, so in moments like these, I am humbly reminded of how privileged my life is. #thisis40."

Kim’s tweets of celebration come at a time when more than one million people have died from the Covid-19 with nearly 43 million cases accounted for since the pandemic began spreading in January. Daily Mail reported that Kim's own home state of California has seen more than 17,000 deaths and Los Angeles County is still in a lockdown due to increasing numbers.

Another user wrote against Kim’s privilege, “the waiter in the mask really shows you that Kim Kardashian is on a whole different f**king planet. she has the privilege to have a 'normal' birthday party during a pandemic because she’s rich.”

A user somewhat backed Kim, “people are we forgetting the NUMEROUS parties other celebs have had in the past week and month that was broadcasted on the shade room?? why are we suddenly concerned about Kim Kardashian ‘close friends’ who QUARANTINED but are not concerned about those other parties?”
