LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Reality TV star and businesswoman Kim Kardashian's announcement of her upcoming film, 'The 5th Wheel', has elicited mixed reactions among her fanbase.

The news of her role in the female-driven comedy has sparked excitement in some quarters while others are already expressing skepticism.

Kim Kardashian to star in and produce film

The reality TV star, aged 43, is all set to star in and produce the feature film 'The 5th Wheel', according to Deadline.

The movie, currently in the pitching phase across different studios, is being scripted by Paula Pell, known for her work in 'Wine Country', and Janine Brito from 'Girls5Eva'.

Deadline reported that several studios are in a bidding war for the film, highlighting Kim's active involvement in presenting the project during meetings, thus attracting the studios' interest.



 

Pell, who is also taking on a producing role, boasts a background from 'Saturday Night Live' and collaborations with Tina Fey in '30 Rock', along with working alongside Amy Poehler and Judd Apatow.

Meanwhile, this project marks Brito's return since her appearance in 'Wine Country', a comedy featuring Fey and Poehler, in which Pell also starred.

Kim Kardashian's big screen debut ignites debate on internet

The news sparked discussions on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), with some questioning Kim's comedic timing and suitability for such a role.

One user wrote, "Oh she's not letting go of that her billionaire status.. ikdr!."

Exploring Kim Kardashian's acting portfolio, the media personality gained fame through reality TV shows like 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' and the ongoing series 'The Kardashians'.

She recently appeared in FX's 'American Horror Story: Delicate' and lent her voice to two 'Paw Patrol' films.
