'Send it to Ukraine': Kim Kardashian deletes tone-deaf $100K giveaway after backlash
Kim Kardashian was slammed by her fans recently for promoting a $100,000 giveaway amidst the Russia-Ukraine war. Fans believe that instead of giving away the money, she should send it the war-torn Ukraine.
Fans called the founder of Kim Kardashian Fragrances "tone-deaf" and prompted her to send the money to Ukraine instead. In one of her Instagram posts, the 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians' star was seen surrounded by Chanel, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Balenciaga shopping bags. After the backlash, Kim appeared to have deleted the post.

In the post, she posed in a black leather dress and captioned the photo: "Who wants to win a $100,000 USD pre-loaded credit card + 2 first-class flights & 5-night luxury hotel stay in a destination of your choice!" The 41-year-old reality star then explained the participation details on how her followers could take part in the competition. As soon as Kim's new post hit her followers' feeds, the comments started flooding in, not many of them pleasant.
Several fans expressed their outrage and angst over her "appalling" post and others demanded that Kim use this sum to help those suffering in Ukraine, the ones who actually need it. One said, "How about you send it to Ukraine!" Another user suggested, "Please use your platform to spread awareness for Ukraine." Another enraged comment read, "The tone-deafness of this post is actually appalling"
Russia-invaded Ukraine
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered troops over the border in an attempt to invade Ukraine last week. When Kim shared her giveaway post, fans raised questions about why she had not allocated those funds for better use. They also asked why she shared support for those affected in Ukraine when she apparently does not want to help them financially. During the weekend, Kim shared an image of the Ukrainian flag and typed, "Pray for Ukraine."
Kim has now deleted her giveaway post, and on Wednesday, March 2, announced that one of her brands, SKIMS, will be making a donation to help those affected in Ukraine. SKIMS will donate to World Central Kitchen as a way to aid their on ground efforts of guiding the affected. She also requested her fans to donate for the purpose.
