How Khloe Kardashian upstaged sister Kim in popularity this year and won the Best Reality Star People's Choice award
Although it was her sister, Kim Kardashian. who got her entire family started in the business of being famous for the sake of being famous, with 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' entering its 18th season, it seems like the popularity dynamic is shifting and Khloe Kardashian is hogging most of the limelight.
Last week, the mother-of-one attended the People's Choice Awards along with her sisters Kim, Kourtney Kardashian and mom Kris Jenner. Although she was focused on 'KUWTK' winning the best reality TV show of the year, unknown to her at the time, she also bagged the best reality star award for her performance on the show.
After angry fans called her out for not making a speech that night after she won an individual award, and only stood behind Kim and Kris as they thanked voters for making their show a success, she addressed the confusion on Twitter.
"It’s so beyond loud in there. I had no idea I won an individual award until we walked off stage. I feel so badly (sic) right now. I am so f*****g grateful and appreciative! I can’t believe I didn’t say anything but I didn't hear that I won until after," she tweeted a day after the event was aired.
Regardless of her acknowledgment, the fact that Khloe bagged the prestigious award proved that her fan following was growing by the day. However, could it also be because she simply had a more dramatic year than Kim? Let's take a look:
Getting cheated on days before delivering her baby
Sure, Kim Kardashian welcomed her fourth child — a boy named Psalm via surrogate — but nothing could have prepared the audience for the shocker back in April 2018, when news broke of Tristan Thomson, Khloe's baby daddy, cheating on her while she was nine-months pregnant.
Two days after photos of Tristan getting close to another woman in a club were splashed across tabloids, Khloe was rushed to a hospital in Cleveland for the birth of her daughter, True.
Despite the public slamming of the Canadian basketball player at the time, Khloe chose to let him stay for the birth of their child. "I chose to put my feelings aside for the birth and to try and have as much positive energy that I could. My only thought was about the birth of my daughter," she tweeted at the time.
The tweet continued, " I wasn't going to let ANYONE disrupt anything less than what she deserved. Joyous love. I chose to be mature & strong for True. I waited for this day for so many years!"
"I know now, looking back that I was in shock because I couldn’t believe that this would ever happen to me but I’m still very proud of myself for how I handled everything," she added. Khloe also tried to rebuild their relationship for the sake of their daughter.
Tristan cheated a second time with Kylie Jenner's best friend
After nearly a year of making it work with Tristan, Khloe finally ended her relationship with him in February this year after he was spotted at a party where he was seen by multiple witnesses "making out" with model Jordyn Woods, Kylie Jenner's best friend.
"Jordyn stayed at Tristan's house partying with him and his friends until the early hours of the morning, and they were very touchy," an insider told E! News at the time. "They sat together on the couch and were talking and cuddling for hours."
What followed were a bunch of he-said, she-said after which Khloe decided to split with Tristan and Kylie decided to end her friendship with Jordyn.
Fitness guru, even postpartum
Khloe's story of fat-to-fit has inspired many of her followers over the years. The fact that she continued to be on brand even after her childbirth drew praise from her fans. Within months of delivering her daughter, Khloe's abs were back and she was showing them off at red carpet events.
Apart from her family reality show, she has also found success in her individual show called 'Revenge Body' which sees participants shaping up and getting toned after struggling to lose weight in the past.
