Kevin Costner fears Christine Baumgartner may try to frame him to win $400M divorce battle
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kevin Costner worries that his estranged wife may try to frame him to gain the upper hand in their nasty divorce battle over his $400 million fortune. Christine Baumgartner filed for divorce from Costner last month, alleging "irreconcilable differences" after 18 years of marriage. She claimed shared custody of their three children but did not request spousal support in her application.
The bombshell claim against his wife of 18 years was disclosed in a last-minute statement to evict Christine from Costner's vast $145 million California estate and reject her proposed plan to "cohabitate" until the child support payments dispute is settled.
'Concerned about what allegations she may make'
The seething 'Yellowstone' hunk claims he doesn't trust the mother of his three children, aged 16, 14, and 13, and is adamantly opposed to staying under the same roof for fear she may falsely accuse him of a heinous crime.
He wrote in a blistering five-page declaration filed in Santa Barbara County Superior Court on June 30, "Things between us have unfortunately deteriorated since early May, which was right after she filed for divorce, I am also concerned about what allegations she may make if we are living under the same roof for months," as per reports.
'My property is both my home and where I work'
According to court records, the 'Dances With Wolves' star wants Christine to vacate his beachside property in the exclusive enclave of Carpinteria by July 13. He said, "I am not at all comfortable sharing my home with Christine or with her being on my property going forward, "My property is both my home and where I work.... Nor do I believe it is in our children's best interests for me and Christine to occupy the same house or property, given the allegations she has made and positions she has taken and the unfortunate tension this has caused," as reported by Radar Online.
The outlet also reported that a furious Costner berated Christine for disparaging him in front of the public and "pandering" to the media by saying in court filings that he heartlessly wants to expel their children from the only home they have known.
