Kerry Washington BLASTED for saying 'Prince Philip and DMX are chatting' in heaven, here's what really happened
Amid immense social media backlash, actress Kerry Washington deleted her earlier tweet that compared deaths of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and rapper DMX. Her tweet invited a barrage of criticism as users dubbed the narrative as cringe-inducing, as some even speculated that her Twitter account was hacked.
On April 9, 2021, rapper DMX aka Earl Simmons, died at the age of 50 after being on life support for around a week. He was under critical care following a cardiac arrest from a suspected drug overdose. The death of the beloved rapper was mourned by fans across US and the world. On the other hand, it was a dark day in the history of Britain as Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh and husband of Queen Elizabeth II, passed away at 99. Britain's longest-serving royal consort underwent a heart procedure about a month ago and was about to mark his 100th birthday on June 10.

While Twitter users across the world poured in their tributes and farewell messages for both DMX and Prince Philip, there were hardly any tweets that paired the two together, presumably over racial concerns. Kerry Washington's tweet was interpreted as problematic and disturbing as she 'wondered' how DMX and Prince Philip are spending time in heaven.
Why did Kerry Washington delete her tweet?
The 'Little Fires Everywhere' actress wrote on Twitter, "Anybody else wondering what DMX and His Royal Highness Prince Phillip are chatting about together at the pearly gates? My love to both their families. May they both Rest In Peace."
She was slammed immediately for imagining the scene, as Huntery Harris responded, "the assumption that DMX and that white man are going to the same place .......... now miss washington please ........"
Another user wrote, "DMX and Prince Phillip going to two very different places. Don’t lump in DMX with a white supremacist pls queen." One user remarked, "Kerry Washington wanted us to fantasize about Prince Philip calling DMX racial slur in the afterlife. Nasty work."
"@kerrywashington black people do not owe the fake royals anything! They are responsible for starting the Transatlantic Slave Trade and colonialism throughout Africa. The text about DMX and the deceased Britannian man was unnecessary," emphasized another.

A few users believed that the 'blunder' was the work of Washington's social media manager or perhaps her account was hacked.
"Kerry Washington’s social media manager getting fired :/," wrote one, while another added, "I can’t believe Queen Naija hacked Kerry Washington’s Twitter account and posted that...it’s getting out of hand."

However, some of Kerry Washington's fans are of the belief that the actress was 'cyberbullied' into deleting the tweet and that 'she meant no harm'.
One user tweeted, "People are so horrible (Weary face) not my Kerry Washington, she meant no harm.." Another expressed, "They roasted Kerry Washington."
"not Kerry Washington getting cyberbullied into deleting this tweet lmaooooooooooooooooooooo," wrote a user.
