How Kelly Preston found her true love with John Travolta after ending unhappy marriage to Kevin Gage
Kelly Preston and John Travolta met each other when they came together during a screen test for their 1989 movie, 'The Experts'. While Travolta has often said that it was love at first sight for him, their relationship did not blossom immediately. Preston was married to Kevin Gage at the time, but their marriage happened to be on the rocks as she later confessed to not being happy in that relationship.
Due to this, Preston and Gage's relationship did not last long and they decided to head their separate ways. After the split Preston went on to date other celebrities like George Clooney, Charlie Sheen, among others. However, these relationships did not last for long and soon after breaking up with Sheen, Preston entered into a relationship with Travolta.
He went down on one knee in 1991 and asked Preston to marry him; she said yes. Preston has hinted at times that it was love at first sight for her as well. As the two got engaged they started making plans of expanding their family and Preston was two months pregnant with their son Jett when she walked down the aisle.
They were married in an unannounced ceremony in Paris and later married again in the US. The couple then welcomed their second child, a daughter, Ella Bleu. While the family was living happily, an unexpected tragedy hit when the pair lost their firstborn Jett in 2009 due from a seizure.
It was a low point in their life, but they knew it was important to give each other space and time to heal. In 2010, the couple welcomed their third child, Benjamin. Travolta admitted that he brought joy back into the house. Just as things seemed to be settling down they got more bad news when it was revealed that Preston had been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Unfortunately, after a two-year battle with breast cancer, Preston passed away on July 13, 2020. Travolta shared this tragic news on Instagram and wrote, "It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer. She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many."
He concluded the post by writing, "Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered" and asked fans to give his family time to grieve.
