LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'X-Men' franchise is already huge, thanks to all the A-list actors starring in it. Recently, rumors have been doing rounds on social media that 'Nope' star Keke Palmer will be joining the 'X-Men' franchise as Rogue in upcoming Marvel projects now that the 'X-Men' are part of the MCU. While Hugh Jackman's 'Wolverine' is ready to star in 'Deadpool 3' with Ryan Reynolds as the titular character, the 'Hustlers' actress responded fabulously to the rumors about her joining the franchise.

In an interview with Comicbook.com, Palmer confessed that she is ready to do the role for fans. She said, "That's confidential, sugar. No, I'm kidding. I don't know. I just know that the fans, the way that the fans have me booked, honey, online, I got to do a gig every week. So if we're adding Marvel to it, hey, let's do it. I'm ready for Rogue." However, while some fans are "here for it," others are just not having it as they feel it is "unnecessary."

Is 'X-Men: The Animated Series' setting the tone for the MCU's mutant era with a revival in the works?

Rogue reportedly is part of a subspecies of humans called mutants, who are born with superhuman abilities. She has the ability to absorb and sometimes also remove the memories, physical strength, and superpowers of anyone she touches. Initially, Rogue considered her powers to be a curse. For most of her life, she limits her physical contact with others, including her on-off love interest and eventual husband Gambit. However, after many years, Rogue finally gains full control over her mutant ability.

In the 20th Century Fox 'X-Men' film series, Rogue was portrayed by Anna Paquin and her portrayal of the character was well appreciated by the critics and the audience. Safe to say, Paquin has set a high standard for Palmer to live up to (if she gets the role).

However, after the rumor surfaced online, fans had a lot to say. While some were excited for Palmer to portray the character, others were against it. A fan said, "Question why not Storm ? She certainly is attractive," while another added, "I wanna see her as rogue."

A fan asked, "Why can't she play storm instead? Or Female Bishop?" while another wrote, "She'd be an amazing Rogue." A fan tweeted, "Sorry but no," when another replied to it saying, "Sorry but yes."

Safe to say, fans have mixed feelings about the 29-year-old playing the iconic character. Palmer has received recognition for her roles on Nickelodeon, including portraying the title character in the sitcom 'True Jackson, VP' (2008-2011) and giving the voice of Aisha/Layla in the Nickelodeon animated series revival of 'Winx Club' (which has now a live-action series on Netflix). Regardless, nothing has been yet confirmed by Marvel about this ongoing conjecture.
