Lana Del Rey was one of the few celebrities who took to the streets in Los Angeles to join the Black Lives Matter movement. The singer shared a video from the protest which showed a few looters stealing from a store. This didn’t go so well with the ‘Toxic’ singer, who accused Lana of putting the lives of the protesters at risk.

Kehlani wrote, “I was told the post was deleted and that was my point so i deleted the tweet but i guess it’s not deleted it’s just reposted  leaving it up on my story but hopefully if she gets enough dm’s she will take it completely down.” Kehlani’s tweet isn’t available anymore as she took it down, but Lana’s Instagram still consists of footage from the protest which shows many faces.

Even Tinashe called out Lana to delete the post, writing, “@LanaDelRey why the f**k are you posting people looting stores on your page literally WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM.”

However, Kehlani’s persistent effort in getting Lana’s posts deleted is being criticized by her followers and has earned the responses she didn’t expect to receive. A majority have instead called Kehlani a hypocrite for liking a few videos from the protests and re-tweeting them herself.

One Twitter user asked, “You retweeted and liked a few videos of protesters that show their faces. What are you gonna do about those? Hypocrite much?”

“The fact that shes a hypocrite. Retweeting very similar content yet calling someone out for doing it. There’s hundreds of people with a large platform posting content. She just wants someone to go after when she should sit tf down,” said another.

A few in Kehlani’s defense have said that the video shared by Lana could be used to identify many protesters and the same could cost their lives. “Literally how ignorant is she????? she literally left the one post up that shows someone IN HIGH DEFINITION,” read a tweet.

However, Lana’s fans spoke for the singer saying, “She hasn’t posted or reposted the video with anyone’s face to be identified, and when she has, she’s removed it. Unfollow if you’re bothered, and by all means continue to close your eyes to the world - but may as well close your mouth too while you’re at it.”

With the situation only getting worse by the day, many social media users are urging one another to focus on the bigger issue and not pay heed to the celebrity feuds or anything irrelevant. “Literally bigger shit it’s happening and we are focusing on one people@page !!  WTF WITH THIS GENERATION MAN !,” wrote one the agitated followers.

Lana is already facing a huge backlash following her post in which she cited numerous black female artists to hit back at claims she was “glamorizing abuse”. Interestingly, Kehlani was also on that list. “Now that Doja Cat, Ariana, Camila, Cardi B, Kehlani and Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé have had number ones with songs about being sexy, wearing no clothes, fucking, cheating, etc,” she wrote, “can I please go back to singing about being embodied, feeling beautiful by being in love even if the relationship is not perfect, or dancing for money – or whatever i want – without being crucified or saying that I’m glamorising abuse???????," she had said. The post slammed her for dragging in these names but the singer said there is nothing that will stop her and she will be speaking out more in the future.
