Kayleigh McEnany, who earlier served as the White House press secretary during the Donald Trump presidency, has called out the Republicans celebrating Johnny Depp's defamation win against Amber Heard. The June 1 ruling sided majorly with the 58-year-old actor after he sued his ex-wife Heard for maligning his image by writing a Washington Post op-ed in 2018.

After the court’s decision was out, the official Twitter page of the GOP House Judiciary Committee tweeted a GIF of ‘The Rum Diary’ star as Captain Jack Sparrow, seemingly trying to portray him as a warrior or a winner. But McEnany clearly did not like it as she said on Fox News on Thursday, June 2, as reported by The Daily Mail: “These are two people that were in a toxic relationship and are both very flawed. They both have problems, that was evident in both of their testimony.”

The 34-year-old conservative political commentator then continued: “And look, I know that there was a verdict of that was 15 million against Amber Heard, $2 million against one of Johnny Depp's agents. But let's be clear. There are no winners here. Not a single person in this case is a winner. We heard about their personal life, intimate details,” before adding: “And I think that those who are celebrating Johnny Depp are a bit misguided, in my view. I remember Johnny Depp as being the actor who said, and I'll read it directly, ‘When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?’ that's when President Trump was president. I see some Republicans celebrating him, I don't think that this is your guy.”

McEnany was referring to Depp’s 2017 statement made during an appearance at UK music festival Glastonbury. Also, as per The Daily Mail, the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star in May of that same year “even offered to carry on Alec Baldwin's beloved Saturday Night Live impersonation of the president should he stop performing it” and he “concocted his own Trump impersonation in a 2016 Funny or Die sketch”.

The author said if anyone should receive support from the Republicans is Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who was accused of sexual assault. “If you're looking for someone and I totally absolutely believe in due process and people should be heard, look at Brett Kavanaugh, not Johnny Depp. That's just my view, but the jury has decided and we respect the opinion of the jury,” McEnany added.

Meanwhile, McEnany’s views have attracted a number of reactions online with a user tweeting: “Oh, @kayleighmcenany , I'd be willing to bet your idol Donald J. Trump is thrilled for Depp! Go ahead. Show me I'm wrong. Encourage Trump to speak out against Depp and the trial outcome. Get him on record for us.” The second user wrote, “‘Perfect, thanks Kayleigh… the money should be in your account first thing tomorrow - Brett’s PR Manager’.” “Started off well but just could not stick the landing. The Brett Kavanaugh reference is a full one point deduction,” the third one noted.

“Is this real life ? Are we actually listening to her say Brett Kavanaugh is someone to look to? I  feel at this point this country has gone straight to insanity ville,” a tweet read. Another tweet added: “Wow, the best she could come up with is Brett Kavanaugh? Never thought I’d say this, Johnny Depp, Johnny Depp, Johnny Depp.”
