The devastated father of the victim Kaylee, Steve Goncalves said in the interview that they are "struggling" and that they have a lot of people around them there, who are helping them, giving them some support. He stated, "So, we'll make it through. We have to."  Speaking about the FBI who added some more officers to the investigation, the father said that it gives confidence in some progress going forward. He stated, "going into the holidays, we want to take time away -- we don't want to be on the circuit. We just want to just relax and knowing that those officers are there, and they're the best of the best, it's definitely comforting."

Police are now focusing on the mystery of the white Hyundai Elantra and MEAWW reported earlier that Internet sleuths debated across social media platforms if Elantra's owner will have some crucial information about the case. When Steve was asked if they view the individual in this car as a possible witness, or perhaps a person who might be of interest, he said, "They haven't given us those kinds of details. They showed a clip of where that camera was, so you can kind of get a good idea what the street that it was filming." he added, "It would be suspicious, I would believe, for a vehicle just to be rolling around at 3:00 in the morning. So, I think that they have a good reason to talk to that individual and see what was going on during that time."

While responding to a question related to the much-discussed stalker, Steve said, "We're not positive of any dedicated stalker, but there were some incidents that they have looked into and they've cleared up, but I don't know if they have looked at all the incidences that we know of." It's been over five weeks and there has been no public progress. When asked if that gave him new hope that things were moving forward or at least getting closer, he responded, "I'm glad that they're reaching out and they're asking the community to look for this car. I didn't think it was in the town anymore. So, they can only work in that county. So, sometimes you have got to reach out."

The attorney of the victim's family Shanon Gray spoke about his later findings considering all the perspectives that give him confidence that there's been some progress. "I think Steve and I both, the family, feel like the community is going to solve this crime," said Gray, before adding, "I think the more they ask the community to help and reach out to them, the better the investigation will move forward up." He continued, "that's why some of our questions in the past have been not reaching out to the community, I think, soon enough. So, hopefully, moving forward, they'll be able to get the resources that they need and move forward and solve this crime." When asked if he is confident he will find his daughter's killer, he said, "Yes, I have to. I have to. I couldn't sleep if I thought -- I'm trying to do everything in my power to help them. We're trying to collaborate with them."
