Katy Perry’s relationship with Orlando Bloom has hit turbulence ever since she got pregnant with his child
It seems Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom's relationship is facing some turbulence as they gear up to welcome their firstborn in a few months. A source revealed that the equation between the pop star and her fiancée "has changed since she got pregnant."
“Orlando and her are having some ups and downs right now. Katy is dealing with the nerves of being a first-time parent, and Orlando is stressing about having a baby in their lives at this time,” the source told Us Weekly.
However, the insider also mentioned that given the "ups and downs", the ‘American Idol’ judge is “is overjoyed and elated that she is pregnant”. “She’s always wanted to be a mom,” the source added.
This is not the first time that Perry and ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring’ star have had issues between them. In early March, the singer admitted during an interview with Ryan Seacrest that there was "a lot of friction between" her and Bloom as she promoted her "Never Worn White" video.
“I have consciously or unconsciously picked a partner that makes sure I keep evolving into the best version of myself. There’s a lot of friction between my partner and I, but that friction breeds something beautiful. It can breed a lot of light,” Perry said while on the show ‘On Air With Ryan Seacrest’.
“It’s just one of those relationships. I don’t know about anyone else that’s listening, whatever kind of relationship they’ve had—and I’ve had many—but it’s like we basically, we get down to the mat and come back up every time,” she added.
Bloom and Perry started dating each other in October 2016 and got engaged on Valentine’s Day 2019. The ‘Troy’ star popped the question with a stunning flower-shaped diamond ring with a ruby in the middle.
The couple is now set to welcome their first child in summer. Perry made her pregnancy news public during an Instagram live show last month. Confirming the good news, she said it is “probably the longest secret” she has “ever had to keep.”
Bloom also revealed in a Sunday Times interview in March that he is on cloud nine as he will become a father. “This kind of joy isn't something you can put into words—or really wrap your head around. Obviously, we've known for a long time before going public. As you can imagine, it's such an incredibly precious, private, yet commonplace moment to be sharing with the world. The whole family is over the moon,” he said.
In the same interview, he also spilled some beans about his sex-life as he revealed that before dating Perry he was on a self-imposed sex ban for six months. The 43-year-old actor said that in 2016, he decided follow his surfer friend, Laird Hamilton’s, advice and practiced celibacy for around six-months.
“Laird said, 'If you want to be serious about a relationship, go celibate for a few months and figure it out. It takes away the idea of going to a party and thinking, 'Who am I going to meet?' I was suddenly, like, 'Oh, I can have a relationship with a woman that is just friends,” Bloom stated.
