Emmys 2020: Who was the New York nurse presenting supporting actress award? Internet hails a true hero
The 72nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony is being held virtually but that hasn't stopped celebrities from going completely glam to celebrate the event. This is the first time in the history that the ceremony is taking place without a red carpet, all because of the Covid-19 pandemic. But along with keeping up with the social distancing norms, the producers also made sure to honor those who went out of their way to help others during the pandemic. Paying a "salute" to the Corona Warriors, the makers invited a nurse who was tested positive of Covid-19.
New York City nurse Katie Duke, who was a Covid-19 patient herself, made an appearance on the Emmys 2020. She presented the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series which was won by Julia Garner. Duke is a Board-certified acute care nurse practitioner. According to her official website, "For the last 6 years, she has been dedicated to leading others by sharing her good and bad experiences and lessons, and empowering others to embrace and grow from their not so glorious moments."
As soon as the NY nurse made her appearance, people started reacting to it. A user said, "So the #Emmys have COVID-19 first responders presenting these awards.. ok I see what y’all doing here." Another said, "Wonderful to see nurses recognized for their heroism during the COVID-19 pandemic at the #Emmys. Thank you for all that you do."

While some joked and said, ""I had COVID, here are the nominees" is a real weird vibe that I don't think anyone thought through. #Emmys," and "When I nearly died of COVID, it was so difficult. On my death bed, I started to think about what mattered most. And what mattered most? The best-supporting actress in dramatic television. Here are the nominees.” #Emmys"
