Kathy Griffin announces surprise New Year's Eve engagement and wedding to boyfriend Randy Bick
Kathy Griffin is beginning the new year by entering a new phase of life.
The 59-year-old Primetime Emmy Award winning comedian took to Twitter on New Year’s Eve to announce her surprise engagement to long-term boyfriend Randy Bick. They made a big revelation with a short and sweet video.
The 30-second-long video features the duo clad in formal attire. They start off wishing fans a Happy New Year before dropping the pleasant news. Together they state, “Surprise! We’re getting married, tonight, after midnight.”
When Bick says “she said yes”, Griffin further adds, “We’re doing it after Midnight West Coast Time. Very fun and you’re going to die when you see the officiant. Alright. Love you guys”, before sharing a kiss with her man.
The comedian revealed more details about the surprise wedding through a series of tweets that she shared after posting the video.
Responding to Scooley’s wishes, she wrote, “Haha! NOT a bit. But there will be humorous elements to the ceremony. I’ll probably post a minute of it before we go to bed and finally consummate our relationship after eight years. #2020NewYear.”
And when Jill Wine-Banks said it was a great start to 2020, she replied, “Honey! Back atcha. That’s why we are doing it after midnight. It will be a great start to 2020. Wishing you much happiness as well, my friend!”
Moments before getting engaged, when Griffin asked Randy to pick one of her long dresses that was his favorite, he picked out a dress that she’s seen wearing in one of their throwback pictures from 2011.
Griffin tweets explain as to how their engagement was clearly not pre-planned, indicating that it was as much a surprise to them as it to their fans.
Fans congratulated them on their surprise engagement tweeting, “That is really exciting! I'm so happy for them!” and "Congratulations Kathy!!!! I love you. I wish you guys the best.”
