'Southern Charm' star Kathryn Dennis has been threatened with eviction for failing to pay $9,000 in rent after losing the custody battle of her children, The Sun reports. Over the past eight years, fans have witnessed the troubles in the personal lives of its leads but nothing beats the dramatic controversies surrounding Kathryn. From testing positive for marijuana in 2016 to calling her ex Thomas Ravenel a narcissist over her custody loss, the TV star has made a few headlines over a decade. In addition to this, the star has reportedly been dropped by her legal team amid the ongoing custody battle with Ravenel. She now has to look for a new counsel after her previous attorneys, Susan Rawls Strom and Pete Currence, filed a motion to be “relieved as counsel” in May due to communication issues with her.

Kathryn had been involved in a legal battle with her ex-partner Ravenel ever since the latter filed for sole custody in 2020. The 'Southern Charm' star met Ravenel on the show and was together during the first three seasons of the show. Thomas, who was much older at age 50, won her over. The pair began dating soon after their first meeting in 2014. They eventually welcomed two children, daughter Kensie and son Saint. The duo finally ended their tumultuous relationship in 2016.

The legal custody of two children

Kathryn documented her pregnancies and the rollercoaster of a relationship she had with Ravenel on social media and nothing has really been hidden. Kathryn had full custody in 2016 but lost it when she entered rehab for marijuana addiction. This eventually led to her depression as well. Later in 2018, she sought primary custody of the children after her ex was charged with assault and battery. However, in 2021 she lost custody of her two children.

She previously opened up on Instagram: "There will be a lot more difficult times than good times when you are without your kids. It’s normal. It’s normal if it’s only difficult at first. It’s going to be that way, it’s going to be hard…you gotta accept that’s just the way it is and pivot. Just like everything else in parenting...”

What is Kathryn Dennis' net worth?

The news of her possible eviction comes as a shocker as Kathryn has been working in the industry for a decade, she reportedly earned a salary of $25,000 per episode and has a net worth of $8 million approximately, as per NewsUnzip. The TV star is also a brand ambassador of Gwynn's department store and has also returned to small market modeling. Moreover, she is the descendant of John C Calhoun, the seventh Vice President of the USA. She is also the granddaughter of influential legislator Rembert C Dennis, who served nearly 50 years in the South Carolina House of Representatives and the South Carolina Senate.

She lived in a high-rise apartment block in Charleston after her home in Mount Pleasant sold for $342,500 in December 2021, as per The Sun. She relocated to 10 WestEdge last year with ex-boyfriend Chleb Ravenell, with who she recently broke up, but court documents show she was hit with 'Rule to Vacate.' A Rule to Vacate notice was filed on March 16 by Mt Pleasant Investments LLC, which owns the complex. It was later settled, but a second notice was filed on May 17 which mentioned that the terms of occupancy have ended.

Scandal and controversies

When the judge presiding over Kathryn and Ravenel's custody battle unsealed court docs related to the case, many allegations came into the picture. The ex accused her of being a sex addict, stating in court docs obtained by the Daily Mail that she suffers from hypersexuality.

Not just that, she found herself in the line of fire after she was accused of making racist statements to a Black woman on social media. While that specific action cost her a brand ambassador gig, she was also criticized further for not taking a stand against a pro-slavery ancestor whose statue was in the middle of a debate over its removal.

Kathryn's battle with depression

In 2018, the star opened up about the effects of her battle with depression. After not appearing for a week on an episode of ‘Southern Charm,’ she got candid with co-star Shep Rose about her depression. “See, the thing is, it had nothing to do with, like, alcohol or weed. It’s simply, like, I fell off the grid because I deal with depression and I stopped taking, like, my meds that one week, ‘cause I thought I was good. And, like, I knew everyone’s immediate go-to is, ‘Oh, she went to rehab! It must be she fell off the wagon.’ It sucks, because it’s not even a problem, but it’s, like, my label,” said the mother of two.
