Kate Upton, 27, slammed online trolls after they criticized her commenting on a controversial call during the 6th Game in World Series.

During the game between Houston Astros and Washington Nationals on Tuesday night, Upton, who is married to Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander, tweeted, "I LOVE talking about sports and reading all of the dumb misogynist comments".

"It reminds me that women need to keep fighting for equality. It’s 2019 but feels like the 1950s. #feminist," she continued. Just a few hours earlier, Upton had said that the MLB umpires had been right to rule that Nationals outfielder Trea Turner had interfered with Astros first baseman Yuli Gurriel as he ran out his slow roller.

Turner was first called out on his play before the game was paused for 10 minutes as umpires discussed the situation with MLB officials. Upton shared a picture of the game and also expressed her frustration that the review of the call took too long.

"He [Turner] wasn’t within the base path. Those who don’t know the rule you HAVE to run inside the 2 lines. Not sure why the review is taking so long..." Upton shared. Many twitter users were outraged and told her to "stick to modeling" while another wrote, ".......nothing more than the losing pitchers [sic] wife. Shhhhhhhh."

However, a few others agreed with Upton. One fan wrote, "Agreed," while another added, "Ump made the right call, he should be out." They also cited Rule 5.09(a)(11) of the MLB’s rule book, which states: "The lines marking the three-foot lane are a part of that lane and a batter-runner is required to have both feet within the three-foot lane or on the lines marking the lane."

"The batter-runner is permitted to exit the three-foot lane by means of a step, stride, reach or slide in the immediate vicinity of first base for the sole purpose of touching first base." Eventually, the Nationals won the game 7-2.

Upton and Verlander, 36, had tied the knot in 2017 and had a daughter last year.
