Kate Middleton uses strapless shapewear, bras sewn into dresses to ensure underwear lines aren’t seen: Expert

A royal etiquette expert has recently shared the secret behind the royals’ polished look. Myka Meier also revealed the sneaky tricks that the palace members, especially the women, use to avoid any embarrassing wardrobe malfunctions.

Meier, who is the founder of Beaumont Etiquette and trained under a member of the Queen’s Royal Household, took to Instagram to spill the beans as she shared how Kate Middleton relies on strapless and seamless underwear to look her best every day. “Royal Style Hack Alert. Ever wonder why you never see bra straps?! Swipe to see a secret trick which is a must-have royal wardrobe piece!” the expert wrote on her social media account.

Along with the caption, she shared a few snapshots of Duchess of Cambridge in a semi-sheer baby blue Elie Saab dress, which she wore at the Royal Ascot in 2019. She also posted a photo of strapless shapewear in a nude color.

“Underwear and bras are also considered private intimate wear, and for royals to put intimate apparel on display would simply not be done. There are a few options to hide bra straps, with one option being a bra that is actually sewn into the piece,” Meier, who has written a best selling book titled ‘Modern Etiquette Made Easy: A Five-Step Method to Mastering Etiquette’”, told Fabulous.

She continued: “A second option is strapless shapewear, which is a one-piece that either snaps at the bottom or has legs attached. You can buy them in almost any skin tone so they appear transparent and don’t show through clothing. You want the attention to be on the beautifully tailored and designed garment and not the undergarments. Undergarments showing can take away from an amazing outfit.”

The royal expert also gave some advice to ensure there is no VPL (visible pant line) in trousers or a form-fitting dress. She suggested that to avoid such mishaps, seamless knickers, undergarments, or shapewear can be used.

Meier is the same expert who has disclosed in the past that the royal family’s daughters-in-law, Kate and Meghan Markle, have a secret to stop their skirts blowing up in public and revealing their underwear. “Often they wear body suits and clothes that actually increase static so it’s much hard for something to fly up. So you have an undergarment that is almost like a bodysuit that is one tactic that is used,” she told The Sun at the time.

“I know when I went to finishing school we were taught that when you are on the tarmac if you do not use weights or heavy weighted material, you make sure it will not fly up by wearing undergarments that keep the fabrics connect to your body. Also, the undergarment would be chosen for that reason,” Meier said in an August 2018 interview.

Not only just the dresses, but the royals also take care of their hair to be perfectly in place. “Often it’s so windy and breezy that hats are used to keep hair in place. Just like the dresses fly up, so does your hair. Right, when you walk off the aeroplane those are the first photos that go viral, so the hat is often used right when they walk off for that reason,” Meier stated.
