Kate Middleton takes dig at Meghan, says she did not delay post-birth photo op because 'it's part of royal life'

Kate Middleton recently offered royal fans a rare glimpse into her private life while talking about the birth of her children, but some feel she took a veiled dig at her sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, through her comments.

Speaking on the podcast 'Happy Mum, Happy Baby,' the Duchess of Cambridge revealed that she found the post-birth public photo op that she had to go through a "slightly terrifying" experience, but added that she and William both recognized it was an important part of royal life.

"Both William and I were really conscious that this was something that everyone was excited about," she said. "For us to be able to share that joy and appreciation with the public, I felt was really important."

Some felt that this was in reference to Meghan and Prince Harry seemingly breaking royal tradition and waiting for a few days before revealing Archie to the world, instead of making an appearance with him immediately after his birth.

"It’s interesting, I thought her statement about feeling it was something she wanted to give to the public was in direct contrast to Harry and Meghan," said royal commentator Angela Mollard.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex waited for two days before announcing that their child would be named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor and posed for photos that royal fans had waited for so eagerly.

"Of course, there were all the shenanigans about them and their baby and where it was going to be born and how it was going to be announced and whether or not they will show the baby and I loved the real clarity of William and Kate," Mollard continued.

"'Yes were having a baby, yes I am pregnant, yes I am sick, yes I have had it, here I am a few hours later with the baby.' A lot of the commentary has been about the fact that this is unreal expectation for women having to stand there in your clothes looking immaculate hours after birth, and I totally get that, but that is part of being royal."

Kate also spoke about her childhood and experiences of motherhood, including how she underwent a modern-day childbirth technique called 'hypnobirthing' for all three of her deliveries even though William was seemingly less than comfortable with the idea.

"I got very bad morning sickness, so I’m not the happiest of pregnant people. [It was] utterly rotten! I was really sick – I wasn’t eating the things I should be eating – but yet, the body was still able to take all the goodness from my body and to grow new life, which I think is fascinating," she revealed.

"It was through hyperemesis that I really realized the power of the mind over the body because I really had to try everything and everything to try and help me through it."
