Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle step out in different shades of blue as they attend separate royal events
In one of those "who wore that color better" moments, Kate Middleton and sister-in-law Meghan Markle opted for two different shades of blue while carrying out separate royal engagements with their respective husbands on Thursday, November 7.
While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex chose to honor Britain's war dead during a poignant ceremony at the Field of Remembrance outside Westminster Abbey, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met with the survivors of terrorist attacks and the Grenfell Tower fire as well as the first responders from both the tragedies at St Martin-in-the-Fields church in London.
The styles of the two royals could not have been more different. Meghan, 38, wrapped up warm in a thick wool coat for her debut appearance at the iconic Collegiate church, while Kate, 37, chose to brave the autumn chill in a belted long-sleeved mini dress as she attended the launch of new charity the National Emergencies Trust.
Meghan's navy textured coat was nipped in at the waist and perfectly accessorized with a slim belt over the black dress. She finished off the ensemble with Victoria Beckham leather boots and a navy Philip Treacy hat. A Remembrance Day poppy added a pop of color to her coat.
Prince Harry, on the other hand, wore his Household Division ceremonial uniform. Meghan was seen standing with her head bowed in respect for the brave servicemen and women who sacrificed their lives in the First World War and other conflicts, while her husband saluted their courage.
The mother-of-one also planted tiny crosses to pay her respects before visiting the plots for regimental and meeting veterans from all areas of the Armed Forces with Prince Harry.
Kate, on the other hand, chose to wear a dress by her go-to British designer Emilia Wickstead. The blue fit-and-flare dress featured a knee-length hemline and 3/4 length sleeves. Her slender frame was accentuated by a wide waist belt in the same color as the dress.
Apart from Princess Diana's glittering diamond and sapphire drops earrings, which are her favorite, Kate accessorized her look with a Women of the First World War poppy brooch worth £29.99 ($38.41), which she had also worn during the poppy campaign last year. Her look was completed with black patent stilettos and a matching clutch from Aspinal of London.
