Karlie Kloss and Joshua Kushner get engaged after six years of dating
Karlie Kloss is officially engaged to Joshua Kushner. The 25-year-old former Victoria's Secret model announced her engagement to 33-year-old Joshua on Instagram and posted a sun-splashed image of her kissing Joshua by the sea. Kloss captioned the image: "I love you more than I have words to express. Josh, you’re my best friend and my soulmate. I can’t wait for forever together. Yes, a million times over 💍[sic]." Joshua, on the other hand, posted a picture of Kloss on his Instagram profile and captioned it simply as: "fiancé ❤️."
The news of their engagement comes almost six years after the couple started dating in 2012. The couple was first seen together when Kloss brought Joshua — brother of Jared Kushner — to the 2012 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show after-party.
A source told People the two have their hearts full of joy at the moment. The source also mentioned that Joshua proposed Kloss about a few weeks back when the couple was spending a weekend together in upstate New York. "They’re both overjoyed and happily celebrating. Their hearts are full and they’re excited to build their future together.”
Kloss has never spoken out about her relationship with Joshua since she doesn't like talking about it in public. She had once told Porter Magazine, "I just really like having a more private life."
Joshua was apparently quite nervous and shy when he had to accompany Kloss at the after-party. However, he handled it pretty well.
Kloss and Joshua officially met on June 8. Although it is not known when or where the couple had met, Kloss had posted a picture of her kissing Joshua on the cheek: "Four years ago today I met my best friend ⭐️🌙 I love you more every day."
The couple made their first trip together to Coachella in April 2013, when Joshua got really artsy with his photography as he posted a picture of Kloss dancing underneath the dusty sunlight.
Reportedly, Instagram CEO and founder Kevin Systrom too posted an image with the couple during their second trip to Coachella in 2015. Joshua is known to be the other Insta-billionaire whose small venture firm, Thrive Capital, had invested an undisclosed amount in Instagram. However, Joshua had also helped Systrom with a strategy to transform a photo-filter app into a global social media platform.
Kloss and Joshua have never been too public about their relationship on social media, however, they would post certain posts for some significant occasion. The 25-year-old model and founder of Kode with Klossy, who is also the face of brands like Adidas, Express and Carolina Herrera, took to Instagram to share a sweet moment on Joshua's 33rd birthday. she captioned the post as: "Happy Birthday to my love + my best friend in the Universe. Love you more than I can ever express @joshuakushner ❤️."
It seems that keeping their relationship away from the social media has actually helped the couple. In spite of having the political ties, Joshua has never hesitated from declaring himself as a Democrat and Kloss had openly declared her support for Hilary Clinton when she cast her vote in 2016. Although Kloss eventually did convert to Judaism — as Ivanka had done for Jared Kushner — she had openly told Esquire in during the 2016 election, "Josh is a lifelong Democrat and will not be voting for Donald Trump.”
