Rapper Kanye West, on Saturday, apologized to his wife Kim Kardashian West for publicly sharing private details about their family. The 43-year-old rapper wrote, “I would like to apologize to my wife Kim for going public with something that was a private matter. I did not cover her like she has covered me. To Kim, I want to say I know I hurt you. Please forgive me. Thank you for always being there for me.”

Kanye’s tweet comes a week after he revealed personal details about their family at his first presidential rally at South Carolina, followed by days of controversial and somewhat alarming posts on his Twitter.

Kanye, who is presently going through a manic episode reportedly stemming from his bipolar disorder, shocked Kim and her family by revealing that they once considered aborting their first child, North West, all the while weeping hysterically. He also accused momager Kris Jenner of being a "White supremacist" and called her "Kris Jong-Un" on Twitter.

Sources told TMZ that the rapper has had no contact with his wife after flying off from the rally on July 19 to the couple's ranch in Wyoming. Although Kim had reached out to her husband to talk about his mental state, he is "not receptive." Moreover, he has also reportedly dismissed her suggestions to fly out to the ranch, where he's currently staying, in order to help him. Twice she tried to convince him to let her fly out to meet him and both times, per TMZ, Kanye shot her attempts down.

A source told People magazine that Kim was “furious” with Kanye after he made the abortion reveal. “Kim is shocked that Kanye spoke about North at the rally,” the source said. “She is furious that he shared something so private.”

Kanye’s tweet, at the time of writing this report, had more than 28,000 retweets, more than 204,000 likes, and close to 9,000 replies. Kanye’s fans seemed to empathize with him. One wrote on Twitter, “Everyone in their life has said something f***ed up judging Kanye makes you a hypocrite. Kanye did say some f***ed up things about his wife but 2020 is not the year to be holding grudges. There are much worse things happening out there rather than Kanye's tweets. @KimKardashian.”

Another wrote, “I'm sorry, they both have to go through this. I know @KimKardashian and @kanyewest are celebrities, but they are human beings as well… And we all know what that can be like sometimes.” A fan wrote, “I will keep you and Kim and your entire family in our prayers. And hope that everyone gives you your privacy. Love to you and your family.”

Many also seemed to appreciate the fact that Kanye issued the public apology, considering he humiliated Kim in public. A Twitter user wrote, “Public disrespect equals a public apology. Take notes, men.” Another wrote, “Props to Ye tho[ugh] for publically apologizing to her [because] he did throw her under the bus.”

Kanye and Kim got married in 2014 and share four children: 7-year-old North, 2-year-old Chicago, 4-year-old Saint, and 1-year-old Psalm.
