Kamala Harris made history by becoming the first woman to ever be elected as vice president, but her historic win was a first of many, as she was also a woman of color, and is now about to become the first vice president ever to be celebrated with a wax figure at Madame Tussaud's wax museum.

News of this came on Wednesday, April 28, when Madame Tussauds New York shared the work-in-progress of the clay head sculptures of both Harris, and the 46th POTUS, Joe Biden. Many have since touted the uncanny resemblance that Tussaud's work is known and revered for, but the fact that the first woman, Black and Asian-American vice president also became the first VP to get this honor has stunned people worldwide.

The wax museum traditionally immortalizes each US president with the honor of a statue that is displayed in the museum's 'Oval Office experience'. For President Biden, Tussauds had announced he'd be getting a wax figure immediately after he won the November 2020 presidential election. And now, as the Biden-Harris administration nears its 100th day in office, the museum has decided to extend the honor to Harris too.

The clay heads revealed on Wednesday were sculpted by a team of London-based studio artists who allegedly researched hundreds of photos to get the features as perfect as they could. The museum said it took around six weeks for the artists to sculpt the head and will take another four to six months to complete the final product, featuring Biden and Harris in their Inauguration Day outfits. Biden will be seen sporting the midnight blue Ralph Lauren suit with Harris in her iconic purple coat dress and matching pearl necklace and earrings.

In a statement, the museum said, “Kamala Harris made history when she was sworn in on January 20th becoming the first woman, first Black person and first Asian American vice president. Madame Tussauds New York is adding another first to Harris’ list of achievements by creating a wax figure in her likeness; an honor that has never-before been extended to a vice president.”

Madame Tussauds USA shared the first look of the sculpted figures on their Instagram page with a video captioned: "Careful, there’s glass on the floor again...@KamalaHarris will be the FIRST vice president to be immortalized by Madame Tussauds Wax Museum! #VP #VIP #Achievements #president #politics #GlassCeiling." The clip alongside sees sculptor Vicky Grant say Harris's "lovely, warm, welcoming smile" and her eyes were the very elements they wanted to get absolutely right. "I feel like she is so engaging when she smiles," Grant said.

The general reaction to the sculpted figures was positive although some remarked that the head is "looking like a mix of Kamala Harris and Jen Psaki to me." Some felt Grant's worries about getting Harris's eyes were valid as the current clay head needed more work. "I hope they work some more on her eyes. They look weird," tweeted the user. A user also said, "I feel like that would take multiple appointments to complete!"
