ATLANTA, GEORGIA: Kai Cenat, one of the most popular Twitch streamers, was reportedly banned from the platform on April 17. The Streamer of the Year winner took to social media to address the situation by simply writing, “BANNED” on his Twitter account. A look at his Twitch channel shows a note that reads, “This channel is temporarily unavailable due to a violation of Twitch’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Service.”

While the message states that Cenat was banned for violating the community guidelines or terms of service of the platform, no specific reason for the ban has been mentioned so far. This prompted fans to speculate if the ban was related to the streamer receiving shoes from Twitch rival Kick amid rumors of him moving to the new streaming platform. Cenat’s ban also comes after he became the streamer with the most active number of subscribers edging out Ludiwg’s and Ninja’s records after his famous February subathon, an uninterrupted 30-day stream.

Why is Kai Cenat banned from Twitch?

Cenat was banned from Twitch on April 17 due to a violation of the platform’s “community guidelines or terms of service.” No particular reason behind the move was announced leading fans to speculate if the mysterious action was linked to the streamer receiving a shoe from Twitch’s rival streaming platform Kick. A few days before the ban, Cenat was seen playing with the shoes from Kick, a pair of custom OffWhite Air Forces, on his channel.

Meanwhile, other fans speculated if the ban took place as a result of Cenat recently crashing a dirt bike into his setup, Dexerto reported. Fellow streamer JinnyTTY was reportedly banned from Twitch over a similar incident after “driving recklessly” on a scooter during a broadcast. It remains to be seen if Cenat or Twitch will provide more details about the former’s latest ban from the platform, the publication reported. “Kai Cenat crashes a motorcycle into his Setup,” a fan wrote while sharing a clip on Twitter.

‘Guess Twitch doesn't care about their best streamers’

The internet was quick to react to Cenat’s recent Twitch ban, with some calling out the platform for banning one of their most popular streamers and others connecting the ban to the streamer receiving Kick shows. “Guess Twitch doesnt care about their best streamers,” one fan wrote on Twitter. “Twitch needs to fire the team in charge of banning. This is mad disrespectful and getting out of hand,” another user added. “WILD HE GOT BANNED BECAUSE KICK SENT HIM SHOES? OOOOH,” a third commented. “See y’all on kick,” another wrote.

One questioned, “Y they ban this legend?” while another said “Twitch must hate making money.” One fan also used a meme reaction to say, “Twitch when they realize they banned the most subscribed streamer on their platform.”

What is Kick?

Kick is a new streaming platform that started operating in January and has defined itself as “the most rewarding gaming and live streaming platform.” It allows users to create, stream and watch live broadcasts in real time and supports HD-quality streams. It also has a chat function to allow viewers to interact with streamers during broadcasts.

The site is known for its creator-friendly policies such as the option of a 95% revenue split and is being considered a rival to Twitch after signing contracts with prominent streamers like Adin Ross and Hikaru Nakamura.

Will Kai Cenat join Kick after Twitch ban?

Cenat’s ban from Twitch comes amid consistent rumors of the streamer potentially leaving the site and shifting to Kick. However, the only association of the streamer with the new platform is the custom shoes from Kick he received a few days prior to his ban. There is no official confirmation if Cenat will join other prominent streamers who recently signed with Kick. Neither the streamer nor the platform has addressed any speculation about online speculation about their collaboration.

Kai Cenat was previously banned on Twitch in 2021

Prior to his latest removal, Cenat was previously banned on Twitch in 2021. Similar to the recent ban, no specific reason behind the streaming platform’s action was provided. Cenat was reportedly in the middle of a stream during the first ban. Fans were left shocked and confused when his broadcast was suddenly shut with a “channel suspended” notification. The streamer’s first ban also prompted the viral #FreeKai trend on Twitter. Nearly two weeks after the first ban, the streamer was restricted on the platform for a second time.
