NORTH PORT, FLORIDA: The North Port Police Department in Florida took to Facebook recently to express their gratitude towards a police dog and its handler for safely finding an old woman, who was missing for hours. Marie Ginette Saint Hubert was reportedly located on Tuesday, January 31. When she was found, she appeared “disoriented” in a "thick brush” after disappearing on Monday evening, January 30.

Sharing the update on the 76-year-old woman, the department wrote on the social media platform, “A big thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly to help find 76-year-old Marie Ginette Saint Hubert. After roughly 20 hours of searching by air and ground Marie was found by Charlotte County Sheriff's Office DFC Steven Sella and K9 Copper in thick brush in the woods, disoriented.”

“Without these actions we may have had a much different story. She is currently in good hands with medical personnel. Whew. Thank you!” the post added.

‘Way to go DFC Sella and K9 Copper!’

Charlotte County Sheriff's Office also took the effort to thank the dog as well as his handler as they posted on Facebook, “Way to go DFC Sella and K9 Copper! Way to pull through until you found her!”

Meanwhile, after Hubert was found, North Port Police Department PIO Josh Taylor spoke with Fox News Digital and said, “It appears she is in the early stages of dementia issues. Thankfully, she did not appear to have any injuries which were serious or life-threatening.”

Taylor also mentioned that the elderly woman’s family has been informed about Operation Life Saver — a “radio read wristband which can help us easily track those who may wander.” “We are hopeful the family takes us up on that,” he added.

‘So grateful she was found!’

The Facebook posts from the police departments have received a lot of support from people with a user commenting, “Sooo thankful she was found safe! Thank you Jesus and thank you to law enforcement and everyone who helped search.”

Another user wrote, “So grateful she was found! Her family must be breathing a huge sigh of relief! Project lifesaver is a good resource to get in touch with. Contact the non emergency sarasota county sheriff department and they will put you in touch with someone who can assist in getting a monitoring device. It’s low cost and they do everything possible to get you a device. My son is a wanderer and we’ve been using project lifesaver for a while. Definitely gives us peace of mind and allows him to be a little more independent.”

“Thats awesome! Kuddos! I might be a cat lady, but I appreciate the intelligence and understanding these dogs have about the world and there ‘job’. Filets for all!” a third user noted, while a fourth one shared, “Awesome! Thank you for such great closure! We so appreciate all of our first responders!” A comment read, "Excellent job well done !! Thank you and prayers for rapid recovery of the patient !!"
