SPRINGVILLE, ALABAMA: The suspect in the brutal stabbing, decapitation, and dismemberment of his girlfriend, Tammy Bailey, 52, told investigators he was upset because she refused to have sex with him, as per authorities. Justin Fields, 38, is charged with murder and abuse of a corpse in the slaying and stabbing of Bailey more than 100 times and beheading her with an eight-inch survival knife.

On Friday, October 28 night, for Fields' birthday, the pair left the house they shared on Bailey Drive and visited a number of bars in the Springville neighborhood, reported Metro. “He had a drink of brandy and then went into his bedroom and was playing guitar,’’ Blount County Sheriff Mark Moon told Al.com. “He decided he wanted to have sex, so he went into her room and propositioned her.” Moon Continued, “She refused him and, according to his statement, it frustrated him, and he stabbed her in the chest.”

Her head was close to her feet when authorities discovered her, and one of her limbs had been dismembered, according to Blount County Sheriff Mark Moon. Moon described the incident as Fields had described it to the sheriff's detectives.

Field admitted to investigators that he lost consciousness and went dark. When he awoke the next morning, he thought he was having a nightmare and stabbed Bailey more than 100 times with an 8-inch blade in his dream. "We’re pretty sure she was dead on the first blow," Moon said. "When he went back in there the next day, she had not moved." Fields became distraught and called his father to confess that he "had done something horrible" and intended to kill himself, according to reports. One of Bailey's relatives was called by Fields' father, but when she showed up at the house, Fields denied her access.

Around 5.30 pm, police showed up at the victim's residence after Bailey's relative dialed 911. While sitting on the front steps of the building and speaking to a deputy, Fields claimed to have committed a terrible thing and reportedly admitted that the house contained evidence. "What’s inside is terrible and she doesn’t want to see it", said Fields, according to Moon. According to Moon, Fields responded "That's OK" when the deputy informed him that he would be handcuffed for everyone's safety. "You're going to arrest me anyway," Fields said as per reports.

Two deputies went into the house to witness the terrible scene. Fields told the investigator what he had done. "So he was stable enough to know what he was doing," Moon said. "He was frustrated because he didn’t get what he wanted."

According to jail records, Fields was detained and charged with murder and mistreatment of a corpse. On Sunday, he was checked into the Blount County Jail. Fields had no prior criminal record, and it was unclear at the time if he suffered from a mental disorder. Deputies who visited the home found the situation to be "pretty hard" because "because they’ve never experienced anything like that," according to Moon.
