'Just a normal day in LA': Fans mock California gun laws as Rams' Demarcus Robinson robbed of $100K jewelry outside hotel

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Demarcus Robinson was robbed at gunpoint outside a hotel in Los Angeles on early Friday morning, October 20.

The robbers reportedly took more than $100,000 worth of jewelry from Robinson, including an expensive watch, according to TMZ.

Demarcus Robinson was not harmed during the robbery

Robinson, 29, according to the publication, cooperated with the robbers and was not harmed, TMZ reported.

"Two men approached him and pointed firearms at him ... and demanded he hand over his valuables," the police were told, as per the report.  

The thieves then took off without harming Robinson physically. 

The incident is under investigation by law enforcement, but no arrests have been made yet.

Robinson began his career with Kansas City Cheifs 2016. He signed with the Rams this offseason after playing for the Chiefs and the Ravens but he has not caught a single pass in five games.

He has also not made any public statement about the robbery. He is expected to play in Sunday’s game against the Steelers at SoFi Stadium.

The robbery sparked debate on gun laws in California

The robbery sparked a lot of reactions from fans and internet users who commented on the crime situation in LA and the gun laws in California.

Some of the comments were posted on Instagram as one wrote, “I thought Cali had the strictest gun laws in the country. How could this happen?”

Another user said, “Welcome to LA, this is a normal thing out here” while another wrote, “Welcome to America!”

A third user wrote, "Think we need to bring back the death penalty, doing a crime is too easy now for criminals.”

A fourth user commented, “No one’s safe in LA,” while another user mocked, “Lol what else is new in LA.” One more user remarked, “Just a normal day in LA.”

One user expressed, “It’s LA….what’s surprising.” Another added, "It happens everywhere, in all states, in all cities….unfortunately getting more brazen. Gun control has very little to do w/it. Wake up America!"

Some users advised against walking with 'this much gold' due to 'out of control city'

“No concealed weapons permit and your flexing with that much jewelry #dumb” a user wrote.

Another user sympathized, "This is unfortunate, my city is currently OUT of CONTROL!!! "

One said, “So many predictable comments as if crime in LA is a new phenomenon.” One more criticized by writing, “You got to be kidding me? Never in LA would this happen.”

One user joked, “Robinson: ‘do you know how I am?!?!’ robber: ‘ya, that’s why I’m robbing you!’ 😂😂” One user prayed: “This is a blessing… most of these stories end in RIP 🪦… 🙏🏾”
