'Julie’s Library: Story Time with Julie Andrews': Release date, host, format and all you need to know about children's book podcast

The 84-year old actor, singer and author Julie Andrews has exactly what one needs to overcome the weariness caused by prolonged lockdown due to the ongoing health crisis. 

Andrews is bringing to her fans ‘Julie’s Library: Story Time with Julie Andrews’, the much-awaited podcast from her home in New York, not letting the pandemic keep her from entertaining her fans. If you’re looking forward to Andrews’s forthcoming children’s project, here’s everything you need to know. 

Release date

A couple of days ago, she took to Twitter to share, “I’m delighted to share a preview of my upcoming #podcast, @JuliesLibrary, cohosted by my daughter, @ewhamilton Starting April 29, you can join us every Wednesday to hear a new children’s book. We can’t wait to read with you.”

Host

Andrews and her author daughter Emma Walton Hamilton will be reading their favorite children’s books as they invite you to their library.

Julie Andrews is a singer and child actress who first features in ‘West End’ and made her Broadway debut with ‘The Boy Friend’ in 1948. She’s also the recipient of the Academy Award for Best Actress her title role in 1964’s ‘Mary Poppins’. She has won a BAFTA, five Golden Globes, three Grammys and two Emmys among many other awards. 

Andrews is also an author of children’s books and has published two of her autobiographies, ‘Home: A Memoir of My Early Years’ in 2008 and  ‘Home Work: A Memoir of My Hollywood Years’ in 2019.

Her daughter Hamilton is a British children’s book author, actress and theatrical director. She’s featured in a couple of films including ‘That’s Life’, ‘Blind Date’ and ‘Switch’. She wrote and served as an executive producer for Netflix’s original series, ‘Julie’s Greenroom’, which released in 2017. 

Format

The official description of the podcast reads, “Every story comes to life with sound, music and activities. Authors, kids and other special guests chime in, too! It’s a show that will inspire lively conversations and a lifelong love of reading. Produced by American Public Media.”

Where to tune in?

Andrews’s Twitter post says the listeners can tune into Apple Podcasts for weekly episodes. A total of six stories will be available.

The Oscar-winning actress and her daughter Hamilton told in an interview with CBS that their upcoming program is meant to bring comfort amid the nationwide lockdown. 

Talking about what inspired her to take up the project, she told in conversation with American Public Radio, “When I became a parent, I passed the love of reading on to my children. My daughter and I have co-authored over 30 books for children and young adults, and our shared passion for the power of storytelling, literacy, and the arts remains fervent,' Julie said in a statement,” the Daily Mail reports
