Julia Wandelt: 'Fake Madeleine McCann' says she's 'in touch' with private investigator hired by missing girl's family
WARSAW, POLAND: Julia Wandelt, 21, who previously claimed that she was Madeleine McCann, has released a new statement claiming that she is "in touch" with the investigator hired by Gerry and Kate McCann, parents of the missing toddler. Wandelt, from Poland, garnered a million followers after creating an Instagram account called "@IamMadeleineMcCann" where she put forward the possibility of being the three-year-old British girl who went missing in 2007. However, the DNA results have proven otherwise, revealing that Wandelt is Polish.
The 21-year-old Polish woman has since written an apology to Madeleine McCann, saying, it "wasn't my intention to bring sadness or any other negative emotion to anyone." In the 17-page statement shared on her new Instagram account called "Am I Julia Wandelt", Wandelt also questioned her true identity and further insisted that she could still be McCann. She also shared her words on her Facebook account under the name of Julia Faustyna. The lengthy statement also finds her claiming that she is "in touch with a private detective who was officially hired by McCann’s family."

'He is going to find out the truth'
"He is going to find out the truth about Fia, Peter Ney and my identity. I won’t tell you his personal data because I respect his privacy. You don’t have to believe me, I don’t care if you believe me but I do care for myself, people who are close for me, my future, next potential victims (of Fia and Peter Ney). I’ve never said something that was not true. I didn’t lie," she further wrote.
'I didn’t do it because of fame'
Wandelt went on to defend herself, saying that she did not make those claims to become famous. "I didn’t do it because of fame. If I would like to make up this story because of dreams about being a singer, don’t you think that I would delete all naked pictures and profiles on adult websites first? Don’t you think that I would post videos of me singing cover and original songs on my old Instagram with over 1 million followers? If I would do it for fame I would definitely use the amount of my subscribers in this old account - I didn’t do it for fame," she explained.
Julia has now chosen to return to her hometown in Poland to stay with her father after being told she was "100% Polish" in her DNA results.
