A Vanity Fair film critic has sparked outrage after mocking Beyonce's seven-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy, on social media.

Fans and followers have called for the critic to be fired after writer K. Austin Collins made fun of the youngster for looking like her father Jay-Z. Collins had said in a now-deleted tweet, "I have a feeling the jay z face genes are about to really hit Blue Ivy and I feel so sorry for her."

A web editor at Harper's Bazaar, Violet Lucca, chimed in saying, "They haven't already?" to which Collins responded saying, "You're right. But she's lucky — if it happens now she'll definitely grow out of it, Get the ugly duckling phase done early."

Their conversation resulted in a lot of outrage online with users slamming the writers for such a negative conversation regarding a child.

Actress Jodie Turner-Smith, who is currently expecting her first child, defended Blue Ivy and all other black girls. She tweeted on Thursday, January 2, "Leave Black Girls Alone In 2020! Black features are beautiful. Black skin is beautiful. Leave Us Alone. Keep your hatred to your damn self in this decade."

Collins and Lucca's mocking started after rapper Megan Thee Stallion had shared pictures of herself celebrating New Year's Eve with Beyonce and Blue Ivy on Instagram.

According to a report by Page Six, Lucca had also written, "Or she'll just get plastic surgery at 16 a la Kylie Jenner and we’ll all have to pretend that she always looked that way…I can't allow myself to feel too sorry for the incredibly rich."

Their offensive and vile comments went viral with critics insisting that they should be fired. Later, Collins retracted his statement and tweeted, "I'm sorry about the Blue Ivy tweet — bad joke, and black girls, in particular, deserve better."

Followers commented angrily in retaliation to Collins and Lucca. One fan shared, "A bad joke? That's a child and that was irresponsibly in poor taste... an apology doesn't change your mindset... 'It's the soul that needs the surgery'," another one added, "You really thought that was funny, you're not undoing that in under 24 hours."
