Jordan Peterson dubs Joe Rogan ‘most powerful journalist’ after controversial 'micro cult' remark
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Recently, Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson hailed Joe Rogan as 'the most powerful journalist', during his appearance on 'Piers Morgan Uncensored' on Tuesday, September 2.
During the interview, Morgan asked Peterson about California Governor Gavin Newsom's recent remarks about Peterson and Rogan's 'The Joe Rogan Experience' podcast.
This comes after Newsom expressed his concern over Artificial Intelligence and its role in spreading misinformation online, as per BPR.
Newsom also said that it helps fuel "micro cults" of people who follow the likes of Peterson, Rogan, and social media influencer Andrew Tate.
Jordan Peterson takes a jab at Gavin Newsom as he backs Joe Rogan
During a recent interview, clinical psychologist and public intellectual Dr Jordan Peterson talked about various aspects of 'micro cults' with Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.
Newsom had previously claimed, "My son is asking me about Andrew Tate, Jordan Peterson. And then immediately he's talking about Joe Rogan," Newsom said. "And I'm like; here it is, the pathway."
Calling Newsom's statement "unconsciously comical," Peterson told Morgan that "anybody who talks about misinformation and disinformation that other people are spreading, they immediately invalidate themselves as a serious observer in my viewpoint because they're basically arbitrary censors."
Peterson further addressed the comment regarding Rogan, asserting, “Now, then, they are in fact identifying themselves as the prime purveyors of such falsehood."
He added, "I would say, then the micro cult comment, that's just ridiculously funny because if you are daft enough to think that Joe Rogan is a micro cult."
Following this, Peterson commended Rogan as the 'most powerful journalist' and elaborated on the factors that led to this accolade.
He said, "You live in 1995. Joe Rogan is the most powerful journalist who's ever lived, by an order of magnitude. And if you don't know that you're just not in the, you're not in the modern world.”
Peterson further illuminated that young people, who are attuned to the modern world, understand that Rogan isn't associated with a micro cult.
Peterson said, "Gavin Newsom might not know that, but that just means that he's anachronistic enough to be deluded."
He further added, "Maybe if Newsom had a clue he'd be curious about why his own children are interested in these micro cults and exactly what it is about Tate and Rogan and I that are grouped together, even though it's a strange grouping."
Internet reacts to Jordan Peterson's take on Joe Rogan
After watching Jordan Peterson's interview, where he shared his stances on Joe Rogan, many fans flocked to the comment section to convey their perspectives.
One fan said, "Saying guys like Rogan are micro cults is a bit like saying McDonald's has very little nutritional value. They are BIG, in a way."
Another wrote, "Anytime you use GOD in a different way then he intends or teaches...YOU FORM A CULT (or micro-cult) because you think you are smarter, wiser, and a GOD!"
The third social media said, "Joe Rogan is indeed a powerful influence. And that makes me sad for parts of western society. Don't get me wrong, I like Rogan, and enjoy a lot of his discussions, but he's not exactly someone whose opinions would influence my world views. And he's certainly a cut above (way above) Lobsterson in terms of relatability and palatability."
The fourth said, "Ugh, not sure which one of these men disgusts me the most, Joe Rogan is tolerable but the best journalist that’s ever lived ridiculous!!"
