A YouTuber mom was severely criticized after an unedited version of one of her videos went viral after it showed her son crying as she allegedly took advantage of her son’s emotion to gain sympathy on social media. The video soon found its way to Twitter where social media users were outraged at Jordan Cheyenne's actions.

In the unedited vlog, which was titled "we are heartbroken", Cheyenne was seen telling her eight-year-old son, Christian, both of whom are sitting on the front seats of a car, to pose for the thumbnail after revealing that their puppy has been suffering from parvovirus, which was an illness that could be deadly for unvaccinated dogs. At the end of the video, she was seen telling him to “come closer, put your head over here”, gesturing him to put his head near her chest while Christian is seen crying in the passenger’s seat. She tells her son to “act” like he’s crying when an emotionally distressed Christian says, “I am crying” as he continues to sob. All the while, Cheyenne also sheds copious amounts of tears, purportedly intended for the camera.

Who is Jordan Cheyenne?

Cheyenne is a vlogger and single mother based in California. After started her YouTube channel eight years ago, she started sharing vlogs surrounding her personal life and fitness on YouTube through which she has garnered over 537,000 subscribers. Cheyenne also has her own website, which describes her as an Instagram Growth Coach and Social Media Influencer.

The bio states: “I help female entrepreneurs unlock their potential, believe in themselves, grow their social media followings organically + turn their audience into paid clients with ease.” On her website, Cheyenne has revealed that she has gone from “being over $40,000 in debt to now running a successful company that has reached over $500,000 in revenue.”

'CPS needs to look into this'

After coming across the unedited video on Twitter, people were outraged by Cheyenne's behavior, demanding that family social media channels be disbarred and that the Child Protective Services (CPS) take a closer look at how the YouTube mom was raising her child. "I will NEVER understand showing your child breaking down on the internet. You’re supposed to protect them. These kids that come from families who vlog everything, get bullied at school all the time. Family channels shouldn’t exist. Most of them have done this at some point," one of them said while another noted, "What's fucked is this isn't entirely an uncommon thing. a lot of 'family' type channels are often doing a lot of exploitive behaviors and using their kids suffering for profit. Regardless of what happened, this is out in the wild now and that poor kid's gonna have to deal with it."

"Jesus Christ. Honestly CPS needs to look into this. When are we going to make this illegal;children cannot consent to their image being posted on the internet and now this clip will follow him around forever. Hollywood already abuses children for tv but there’s no regulation here," A third remarked. A commenter tweeted, "My kids are teenagers now, and just knowing their personalities, they would’ve hated it if I had put their lives on the internet. Especially my younger child. I’m afraid these kids are going to grow up to really dislike and distrust their parents…at best." A person reacted with, "I feel bad for the children of vloggers… imagine all of the therapy these children are going to need."

Jordan Cheyenne apologizes after backlash

Initially, after she received considerable backlash for the unedited video, the YouTuber shared an edited version of the same video without the thumbnail bit, drawing even more criticism. This forced her to delete the video altogether and issue an apology, where she’s heard saying: “That was so disgusting of me. I should not have done that at all. We were both already so sad and upset and in such a vulnerable state today.”

In a second apology video she uploaded on her Instagram stories, Cheyenne was seen crying in her home with her refrigerator door open in the background. She said she was switching off her DMs was disabling comments on her social media page because she was receiving death threats after her video went viral. She said she had never been "so upset with myself or disappointed" over people sending her mean messages.
