The controversy surrounding Joe Rogan spreading false information about the Covid vaccine on his Spotify podcast doesn’t’ seem to cool down. To protest the same, legendary folk singer Neil Young pulled off his entire discography from the leading streaming giant and following in his footsteps, his close pal Joni Mitchell decided to pull off the same stunt.

The renowned Canadian singer-songwriter took to her official website to announce that she will be removing all her music from Spotify in solidarity with  Young’s decision. She claimed that people were spreading lies that were costing lives of many referring to Rogan’s controversial podcast. Social media users flocked to Twitter as soon as they got to know about Joni’s decision to stand with her musician friend. Speaking of Rogan, he was brutally dragged on the Internet after Spotify decided not to ban his podcast called ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ after a controversial appearance by Dr. Robert Malone on the show.

Joni Mitchell takes firm stand against Joe Rogan

Taking to her official website, Joni posted, “I’ve decided to remove all my music from Spotify. Irresponsible people are spreading lies that are costing people their lives.”  She added, “I stand in solidarity with Neil Young and the global scientific and medical communities on this issue.” Spotify is yet to comment on the issue. MEAWW will keep you posted.

Joni’s announcement comes two days after Spotify went ahead and removed Young’s music from their platform after the latter gave them the ultimatum to do so.

In an official statement to The Washington Post, a spokesman for Spotify said, “We want all the world's music and audio content to be available to Spotify users. With that comes great responsibility in balancing both safety for listeners and freedom for creators. “The statement added, “We have detailed content policies in place and we've removed over 20,000 podcast episodes related to covid-19 since the start of the pandemic. We regret Neil's decision to remove his music from Spotify, but hope to welcome him back soon." The streaming giant was slammed for picking Joe Rogan over Neil Young.

While asking to remove his music Young had said, "I am doing this because Spotify is spreading fake information about vaccines – potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them”, adding, "Please act on this immediately today and keep me informed of the time schedule.”

They understand what is at stake right now and them pulling their music from Spotify is a pretty big damn deal.”

More artists should do the same.” One shared, “Who was streaming this random person anyways?” Whereas, another tweeted, “Her whole generation f*ed up the world but now she wants to blame it on Spotify.” One stated, “Feeling enormous pride that the artists who got this #Spotifydeleted train going are Canadian. @Neilyoung & @jonimitchell. There are sure to be more, and bigger. But it’s Canadians who led”, as another user concluded, “Lord I am not ready for Joe Rogan fans to ask who Joni Mitchell is.”
