Jon Gosselin makes shocking claim that ex-wife Kate abused their son Collin and had him 'caged' for no reason
Jon Gosselin has broken his silence about his ex-wife's Kate's parenting style. Jon has thus far kept silent because of a gag order he had signed as part of their divorce and custody deal in 2009. He has now alleged in an interview with Daily Mail TV that his former wife abused some of their children.
"It's time America found out the truth about Kate, she isn't the person you think she is," the former 'Jon & Kate Plus 8' star said, "Kate is not doing the shows for her family, Kate is doing it for herself. She's narcissistic and selfish. That's it. Period. All of this is for her - Kate Plus Eight, Kate Plus Date, it's her name first." He added that she always spoke on behalf of the children but the truth is different than what is portrayed on television.
The former reality star said that he had been heartbroken after Kate had sent their son Collin, 11, away to a behavioral unit in Philadelphia without his knowledge. Collin, with the help of an older boy in the same facility, had also sent letters to Jon, asking him to take him back. He also revealed that the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) had written to him several times through the years suspecting child abuse involving his son. Following this, Jon decided to fight for joint custody of his children.
He claimed that Kate had sent away "difficult" and "stubborn" the unit even though he had no other diagnosed medical condition apart from common ADHD. He was "caged" for three years, he said and claimed she visited him just three times. Collin, after Jon rescued him, has PTSD, he said. "I know my children have suffered abuse and I know one day they're going to tell their own story," Jon said, "And sadly enough, I know what PTSD is. It's really upsetting." He also claimed that their other daughter Hannah, who now lives with her dad, was also alienated by Kate.
The DHS investigation was closed for the lack of evidence. "I think Kate has really poisoned my children's minds against me," he said, adding that he had never cheated on her and that he wasn't a monster and loved his kids. "I brought Collin home. He's a great kid. I want the family unit together, I even want to co-parent," he said.
He claimed that her parenting was "militant" and she would change plans according to what went well with the filming crew. "We'd go to the beach to do a shoot and say, 'there's the water, run over there... okay, shoot over, let's go.' Like who does that?," he said recalling a 2009 incident when he allegedly had just started getting in "trouble" with the production team. "When we did film, we did have good experiences," he said, "But they were short. It was like 'cut, cut, cut. Alright, we got it. Let's go. Let's go on to the next one, onto the next one, onto the next one."
