Jon Bon Jovi's restaurant offers free food to furloughed workers as government shutdown enters 31st day
As the longest government shutdown in the history of the US entered its 29th day on Saturday, January 19, singer Jon Bon Jovi sent a message out to furloughed workers saying "I'll Be There for You" by offering them free meals at one of his restaurants in New Jersey on Monday, January 21.
The restaurant, which is owned by the acclaimed musician and his wife Dorothea, posted on their Facebook page over the weekend: "In line with our mission, Federal workers are encouraged to join us for a delicious meal and to learn about additional support and resources available in our community."
The JBJ Soul Kitchen is located on The Red Bank, New Jersey, and provided its first free meals to furloughed workers and their families for two whole hours on the afternoon of January 21, CBS News reported.
