Johnny Depp's lawyer Camille Vasquez reveals she 'often' texts actor on WhatsApp: 'We're still united'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Camille Vasquez, who represented Johnny Depp in the case involving Amber Heard, is still in contact with the 'Secret Window' star. Vasquez revealed that she "often" texts Depp to stay in touch.
Vasquez revealed that despite the Virginia defamation trial finding in favor of her client Depp had essentially concluded one year earlier, she and other members of their legal team, including Benjamin Chew, still text with Depp, according to People. "The last time I spoke to [Depp] on the phone was probably a few months ago, but we text often," Vasquez said. "There's a group of us that texts with him and we send emails, obviously congratulating him on the success that he's had in the last year."
'We're still so united'
Vasquez claims that as an homage to Depp's 'Pirates of the Caribbean' days, the crew called itself 'The Black Pearl' throughout the trial and still uses that name in group chats today. She said, "I'm so proud of the work we did, and it wasn't just me." Vasquez said, "This is a tremendous team with mostly associates that worked their little tail feathers off to do the job that we were able to do. We were such a team and we're still so united and we care about one another."
Vasquez continued, "He has a big birthday coming up, so I'm sure he'll be celebrating — foot up because, as you've seen, probably, reported in the news, unfortunately our guy got a fracture in, I believe, his ankle." She added that she and her trial colleagues also intend to attend a Boston stop on Depp's 'Hollywood Vampires' tour later this summer.
What is Camille Vasquez working on?
Vasquez has worked on a number of high-profile cases since the Depp trial a year ago, and she also got a job as a legal commentator at NBC News. Richaun Holmes of the Sacramento Kings in the NBA and the Latin pop singer Gloria Trevi are the subjects of her current cases.
Vasquez and 'Yellowstone' actress Q'orianka Kilcher won a legal battle in February. She also claims to be close to landing a legendary heavyweight champion as a client. "I knew my life had changed, but I could never have dreamed it would be this great, that I would be able to represent some of the most interesting, wonderful clients that I have the privilege of representing," she said.
