Fans CAN'T WAIT for Johnny Depp's return as King Louis XV in Netflix France's 'La Favorite'
Johnny Depp is set to return as King Louis XV in a French period piece called 'La Favorite.' Netflix has agreed to co-finance and broadcast the actor's upcoming movie following his defamation lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard. If Depp accepts the offer, it will be the actor's first leading part since those events. Alongside Maiwenn Le Besco, who will both direct and play the lead role of Jeanne du Barry, King Louis' mistress, Depp will play King Louis XV. Maiwenn Le Besco was the director of several acclaimed movies such as 'Mon Roi' and 'Polisse.'
The movie is scheduled to hit French theatres in 2023 and will be available on Netflix France 15 months later. It's unclear if the movie will be accessible on Netflix internationally. As expected, fans were delighted with the news of their favorite actor’s return in front of the camera once again. One person wrote, “Ready for him to come back to acting with a vengeance, can’t wait.” “Can’t wait! Johnny Depp is a brilliant actor,” another user added. Someone wrote, “Love ya, Johnny! 😇😇😇” "Johnny Depp is a brilliant chameleon actor. He will certainly show a new side of him. Can't wait!" yet another person remarked.

'La Favorite' will be Depp's first film role since Hollywood turned its back on the actor after his ex-wife made domestic violence accusations against him. In a defamation case against Heard in June, the actor was awarded compensatory damages of $10.35 million. Heard, who made comparable claims, received a $2 million award from the same jury. Depp last appeared in a movie in 2020, and this will be his first French-language appearance. According to Daily Mail, it will be filmed over the course of three months this summer, including at the Château in Versailles.
